Story and Art by Andy Price

Princesses Celestia and Luna are preparing to participate in the Ponyville Sisterhooves Social event; however, to participate, they need to complete all their royal duties for a few days as to be able to take a special potion that weakens their powers to prevent them from using them at the event as to compete fairly with each other, with plans to take a empowering potion after they return. However, as pointed out by Kibitz, the royal scheduler, the two start bickering over every little task, trying to outdo the other. It does not help that Crystal Ball, the pony that made up the potions to Kibitz' specifications, added some extra hot spices to the potions, which further put the Sisters in sour moods. Their rivalry ascends to the point that they ruined the baked goods they were going to bring to the event and have no time to remake them before the Social is to start, and they take off immediately, continuing to bicker all the way. Kibitz realizes that they have forgotten to feed their pets Philomena and Tiberius, and proceeds to given them some berries the princesses had left, unaware these were coated with the empowering potion.

At the Sisterhooves Social, Rarity and Sweetie Belle, who are also competing, quickly see the royal sisters bickering. Celestia makes Luna stand in as part of a pie throwing contest, and Luna has Celestia hypnotized to act like a chicken every time she hears the word "go". The two cannot stand being paired with each other, and swap partners with Rarity and Sweetie Belle for the six-legged race — just as huge versions of Philomena and Tiberius start attacking the festivities. With Rarity and Sweetie Belle in tow, the royal sisters find a way to work together to lure their pets away from harming any ponies, and then with the hypnotist, stun them into sleep so that Kibitz, having just caught up, can help administer the diminishing potion to return them to normal. As the threat wanes, Celestia and Luna admit they shouldn't have fought among each other as this wouldn't have happened if they focused on their duties rather then the competition between them.

Tropes:

  • All Part of the Show: When Celestia and Luna arrive at the social arguing with each other, the two claim it's part of a skit they're rehearsing. Later when the giant-sized Philomena and Tiberius are subdued, they likewise claim it was part of the skit.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Philomena and Tiberius end up growing to giant size after eating the tainted berries.
  • Beleaguered Assistant: Kibitz only now instead of just one princess, he has to deal with the both of them and finds himself in the middle of the squabbling.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: The final panel has Celestia thanking the readers for their support in the Friends Forever series. Ironically, Pinkie asks her who she's talking to.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Self-inflicted example, the sisters take a potion so as to limit their magic in the sense of fair play when going to the festival. It's only temporary of course.
  • The Cameo: Chrysalis is seen being chased by the two princesses and Chief Thunderhooves, Prince Rutherford and comic only character King Aspen are seen together when Celestia and Luna attend a party for dignitaries.
  • Continuity Nod: To the Sisterhooves Social episode where Rarity and Sweetie Belle bring up their own sister troubles from that episode and the lesson they learned from it.
  • Continuity Snarl: Celestia mentions being a substitute Dream Weaver during Luna's Nightmare Moon-related absence. According to Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?, Celestia (and just about everypony else not named Luna or Nightmare Moon) is incapable of such without Luna's help (even Discord was helpless in the Dreamscape without her (My Little Pony Friends Forever Issue 20)).
  • The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: Brought to forefront here as Celestia and Luna squabble while trying to bake some treats for the Sisterhooves Social. Though a combination of lack of sleep and eating tainted berries likewise has a hand in it.
  • Grand Finale: Of the Friends Forever series. This is the last issue of the comic with Legends of Magic replacing it.
  • Hypno Fool: During most of the squabbling through the festival, Luna has Crystal Ball hypnotize Celestia into acting like a chicken when she hears the word "Go!".
  • Hypnotize the Captive: A comedic example where Celestia is hypnotized into thinking that she's a chicken when she hears the word 'Go'.
  • Karma Houdini: Crystal Ball is never even admonished for deviating from the recipe and thus causing all of the amplified problems at the Social.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The sisters have Kibitz go to Crystal Ball to make them some potions to use to nullify their unicorn magic since they're too busy to do it themselves. However, due to finding the recipe boring, Crystal Ball deviates from the original recipe and uses spices in it. This causes the sisters' sibling rivalry to spark after they end up taking it as a result.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After the sisters first squabble, the two realize that while they may argue it's never gotten that bad before. However they end up bumping into each other and having to focus on the festival to worry about it further.
  • Thanking the Viewer: The final panel of the story and subsequently the Friends Forever series had Celestia doing this.
