Fluttershy hears some baby sea turtles who can't find their way to the ocean. With a little help from Tank the tortoise, she, Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash find the turtles and clear a path for them. However, while they were working, Tank led the turtles himself.
Tropes:
- Amazing Technicolor Population: Weirdly, it even applies to the baby turtles in this world, despite them likely hatching from the same batch of eggs. Some are green, some are red, some have a blue shell and yellowish body.
- Artistic License – Biology: Sea turtles don't care for their young, so it's unlikely that the babies would have viewed anyone as their mother.
- Closest Thing We Got: Unable to locate the lost turtles by themselves, Rainbow fetches Tank on the logic that he should be able to find his own kind. Fluttershy rolls with it despite the differences between the two species. It works, though Rainbow Dash has to carry him around to speed things up.
- Cuteness Proximity: All four girls repeatedly gush over the cute baby turtles.
- Depth Deception: When pointing out the dangers on the way to the ocean, the last is a shipwreck on the beach. While clearing the path, Fluttershy goes over to the wreck and reveals it to be a child's toy.
- Mundane Solution: The girls go to great lengths to clear a path for the turtles, crushing sand castles and fighting knife-wielding crabs, only for Tank to just take them on a different path through the grass slightly to the left.
- Parental Substitute: Tank leads the babies to the sea himself and before leaving the babies give him a group hug, apparently thinking he's their mother. Tank cries a single tear as he watches them swim away.
- Staggered Zoom: When Fluttershy wonders how she can find tiny baby turtles on this "Great. Big. Beach.", there's a zooming-out cut on each word, centered on her, showing indeed the size of the beach.
- Stating the Simple Solution: Rainbow suggests carrying the baby turtles to the sea themselves, but Fluttershy says the babies need to make the journey themselves to imprint it and return to lay eggs themselves one day.
- Super-Senses: This episode shows that Fluttershy's geode confers her incredible hearing as far as animals are concerned. Here, she can hear newborn sea turtles crying from over a large, crowded beach, though she can't actually tell which direction it's coming from.
- Time-Passes Montage: Rainbow Dash releases Tank to find the turtles. Cue a sequence where Tank moves extremely slow while the world around him moves extremely fast. Rainbow Dash runs out of patience and just carries him.
