Written by: Gillian M. Berrow

Sunset arrives at the mall to get a new video game, Tirek's Revenge, and finds a massive line stretching across the mall where people have been camped out waiting for the game's release. After several hours Rainbow Dash shows up, and on realizing Sunset is alone, superspeeds off to get the rest of the gang to wait in line with her so she won't be bored. Time passes quickly as they hang out, but as Sunset finally gets to the front of the line, the game sells out. Pinkie, who thought they were having a line party, reveals she pre-ordered the game for Sunset months ago and gives her her copy. A happy Sunset reminds the group the game has a multiplayer element.

Tropes:

  • Alternate Self: In the human universe, Tirek is apparently a video game character.
  • Bland-Name Product: For obvious reasons, no-one actually mentions what console Tirek's Revenge is for. The game package, as well as two handhelds Snips and Snails play, have what appears to be a GameCube logo, but pink and with a streak of four other colors coming from it similar to the N64 or Playstation logos.
  • Continuity Nod: Several Crystal Prep students are seen in line along with the CHS and general public.
  • Fictional Video Game: Rise of Tirek and Tirek's Revenge are parts of a video-game series in the EQG world, apparently popular enough to have teenagers wait in line for hours to get it, or pre-order it for months.
  • Foreshadowing: The game Sunset waits for is titled "Tirek's Revenge". This short came out some time after it was revealed that Tirek would be returning for season 8, so this is most likely intentional.
  • Gamer Chick: Sunset is willing to wait in a long line to get a video game she's interested in so she's definitely one of these. In the short itself, however, she doesn't play a game while waiting. She has friends for that.
  • Human Shield: Or more accurately "Dog Shield" in this case. While waiting in line, Rarity at one point tries to put makeup on Rainbow, and Rainbow upon realizing this grabs Spike and uses him as a shield to block it. Rarity looks surprised by this at first, before continuing to apply makeup to Spike anyway.
  • Left the Background Music On: The music for the montage turns out to be played by the Rainbooms while waiting in line.
  • Meta Fiction: Sunset is very excited to see Tirek's Revenge after the first game Rise of Tirek was so great; the fandom has been waiting for Tirek to return since "Twilight's Kingdom" and got their wish in Season 8.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Sandalwood is excited about doing trust falls with a friend.
  • Right on Queue: The line for the game is so long that the various people waiting are doing whatever they can to pass the time.
  • Trust-Building Blunder: After boasting that "Time flies when you're with your best friends!", Sandalwood attempts a "trust fall" out of the blue. Except he obviously takes Micro Chips by surprise with this stunt, and falls flat on his back offscreen.
