Recap / My Little Pony 'n Friends E7: "The End of Flutter Valley 7"

Go To

On Earth, Sting and Morning Glory manage to evade the bull long enough for Megan to arrive and trick into a paddock. As she's too heavy for either of them to bear in flight, she decides that they'll carry her over by holding up a large sheet like a hammock, with her sitting in the middle. Once back in Dream Valley, they meet up with the green furbob and decide to rescue the Flutter Ponies in order to defeat the witches.

In Bumbleland, the Sunstone's loss has duly turned the land barren and sterile again. Queen Bumble decides to retrieve the Sunstone and remedy this issue by forcing the Flutter Ponies to dig it up. After spending some time digging away at its location while a bee on a crane tries to grab the stone from the hole, they attempt to escape and manage to snag Queen Bumble with the crane and dropping her in the freshly-dug pit. She manages to avoid falling in, however, and a fight breaks out, culminating with Honeysuckle the flutter pony tumbling into the pit instead.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Acrophobic Bird: Averted with the flutter ponies — they're explicitly unable to take off because of the honey on their wings — but played straight with Queen Bumble. While being dangled over the pit, she seems to completely forget that she can fly just fine and could just fly out of her chair, or that being dropped from a height really shouldn't be a problem for her.
  • Animals Lack Attributes: Averted with Megan's bull, drawn with a prominent, dangling sheath (which is actually a sign of bad health in bulls).
  • Bamboo Technology: When trying to retrieve the Sunstone, Pointer, Queen Bumble's minion, operates a working mechanical crane built entirely out of rough-cut logs and branches.
  • Bull Seeing Red: Megan distracts the bull from Sting and Morning Glory by waving a red blanket at it and swiftly drawing its attention, complete with images of the red object appearing in its pupils.
  • The Ditherer: The green furbob when he needs to get help — he even sings a whole song about it!
Why am I so wishy-washy — always in a bind?
Can I be a hero if I can't make up my mind?
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Honeysuckle actually manages to knock out Pointer, hijack his crane and hover Queen Bumble in her chair over the pit as a hostage, but in the end it just all amounts to nothing and Honeysuckle ends up falling in the pit herself.
