• Badass Normal: It's the sight of his father Henri battling Bad Jack without the benefit of magical equipment that causes Jimmy to realise he's taking too many shortcuts.
• Comical Overreacting: When Cat fails to stop Jimmy from putting on the helmet and flee his house, she tries to go after him but he's blocked the door with a huge hunk of rock. After her punches and kicks fail to make a dent, Cat falls to her knees crying Jimmy's name (complete with Big "NO!") and pounding her hand against the floor. At least until Henri coughs and opens the other exit.
• Friend-or-Idol Decision: The Helmet tries to convince Cat and Jimmy to fight each other over the right to wear it, but realising the Helmet almost turned them against each other Jimmy opts to get rid of it.
• Magnetic Plot Device: The Helmet attracts others to fight the wearer.
• Misery Builds Character: The Helmet claims that magically drawing others into attacking its wearer makes said wearer stronger.
• Power at a Price: The Helmet makes its user invincible but induces others to attack them.
• Pretty Free Loader: When Cat throws open the door to Jimmy's house to urge him not to wear the Helmet, said Helmet demands to know what she's doing in Jimmy's house since she doesn't even live there.
• Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Bad Jack's reaction to the screamer bats, the Witch of the Cursed Woods and the Cyclops all showing up at the same time to attack him.
• Stealth Hi/Bye: The Cyclops and Witch somehow manage to show up almost immediately after the helmet is put on, despite the fact that the former especially should have been visible a mile away.
• Super-Strength: The Helmet gives its wearer some sort of super-strength. Enough that Jimmy, who is not known for his physical abilities, was able to knock the Cyclops off a cliff.
