- Flaming Hair: Jake's hair burst into flames.
- Flat "What": After Miss Chameleon gets to the part about The Great Flood, the students question when all this supposedly happened and point out it couldn't have been yesterday or the day before, as they were all at school on those days. Miss Chameleon thinks it over and realizes this story happened today. The students have this reaction right before the water comes rushing into the auditorium.
- Funny Afro: Adam's hair poofed up into a giant perm after absorbing all the humidity. It's what saved the school from the flood.
- Global Warming: The air conditioners shut down, and the equivalent of this happened at the school.
- The Great Flood: After the Arctic Wing melted, this resulted in the entire school getting flooded.
- Green Aesop: This episode had an underlying environmental message about global warming.
- Heat Wave: A "heat wave" strikes Charles Darwin Middle School, but this is only on account of Principal Pixiefrog being too cheap to bay the air conditioning bills.
- Hidden Depths: Margaret has perfect attendance and even got an award for it.
- Is This Thing Still On?: Principal Pixiefrog and Mrs. Warthog discuss how it wasn't actual climate change that caused the melting ice, just him turning off the air conditioners to save money. They then realize the intercom is on.
- School Play: This happens at the beginning and end of the episode.
- Sweat Drop: People are sweating these so much, that even their perspiration is perspiring.
- Whole Episode Flashback: Miss Chameleon told her sucky school play this story as performance-enhancing motivation.
