Inspector Brackenreid and Constable Crabtree are present when a man is murdered while undergoing an initiation ceremony at a Masonic temple.

- All Women Love Shoes: Crabtree says that he should have should have realised the 'man' whose murder they were investigating was really a woman pulling a Sweet Polly Oliver when he discovered the victim had a closet full of shoes. Both Crabtree and Murdoch apparently own two pairs of shoes.
- Ambiguous Gender: Victor lives his life as a man at all times, except possibly to play basketball with a women's team. It is not clear whether he is truly trans, or if he is doing it to take advantage of the social and professional opportunities which were closed to women at the time.

- Crossdresser: An entire women's basketball team engage in this for fun and to experience the respect men are shown. It is unclear whether Victor is this or a trans man.
- Mistaken for Cheating: The murderer's motive. He thought his wife was seeing "Victor" behind his back, only learning after the fact that his victim was a woman.
- Rain of Blood: Murdoch and Brackenreid are showing the Masons a sketch of a suspect at the Masonic Lodge when blood starts dripping on to the sketch. the blood is coming from someone lying dead in the room upstairs.
- Shout-Out: The title of the episode to Victor/Victoria.
- Sweet Polly Oliver: Cross-dressing women who do it just for fun, and manage to infiltrate into a gentlemen's club. Several people comments that their appearance is extremely convincing. One of them mentions the enjoyed the respect she commanded just by being a man.
- Tampering with Food and Drink: Victor is murdered by the killer smearing crushed peanuts inside the skull cup he has to drink from as part of the masonic initiation, which triggers a fatal allergic reaction.
