As you might have guessed from the title of the past few episodes, our heroes' journey isn't going to be an especially calm one. Because of all the murder, I mean. Taako mourns the dead. Merle finally plays his part. Magnus does one of the absolute coolest punches ever.

- Butt-Monkey: Even when Jenkins is believed to be dead, Taako still makes fun of his magical abilities, or lack thereof.Taako: If only he'd used one of his spell slots!

- Genre Savvy: It doesn't take long for Angus, a skilled detective, to figure out that the heroes aren't who they say they are.Angus: And what are your guys' names?

Angus: No, I'm sorry—what are your guy's real names? - Great Detective: Angus is a skilled, and claims to be the world’s greatest, detective. You could just call him a Kid Detective, if you want to be "reductive".
- Keep Away: After the gang realizes something is up with Angus' book, magnus snatches it from him and tries to play Monkey in the Middle with it. He tosses it to Taako, who just ends up giving it back to Angus shortly afterwards.
- Mistaken for Pedophile: Lampshaded by Travis. He notes that three grown men accompanying a little boy like Angus into a secluded room in the train "away from prying eyes" would probably not make the most flattering picture for them all.
- More Teeth than the Osmond Family: The crab monster has three circular rows of teeth.
- Precision F-Strike: Angus irritably points out that he's "detective enough to see through [the PCs'] horseshit" when they're visibly unimpressed with his insistence that he's the world's greatest detective.
- Serial Killer: Angus is tracking down the Rockport Slayer.

- We Hardly Knew Ye: Gram, the Juicy Wizard, and Jenkins’ bodies are found. Subverted in that Gram is unconscious and, in a later episode, Jenkins’ body is revealed to be the engineer’s.
- Working the Same Case: The PCs realize that the Rockport Slayer, who Angus is investigating, killed Liam Kessler.
- Your Mom: One of the many insults hurled Jenkins’ way. Specifically, Magnus asks for Jenkins to conjure up his mother's bedroom in the Pleasure Room, insinuating that he's already been there before.
