Recap / Mr Bean E 10 Mind The Baby Mr Bean

Go To

The tenth episode of Mr. Bean which aired in April 1994.

Mr. Bean finds out the hard way how to look after a baby, after his car inadvertently latches on to the baby's stroller outside a funfair.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Balloonacy: Mr. Bean purchases a large bunch of helium balloons to try and calm the baby down, tying those balloons to the baby's stroller. Unfortunately, the balloons lift the stroller off the ground.
  • Cut the Juice: Mr Bean causes mayhem on a bumper car ride, when a baby is hidden in the bumper car activating the throttle, and Mr Bean is standing on top, clinging on. When the baby starts crying, Mr Bean then activates the baby's squeaky toy. The attendant sees this, and switches off the power, stopping all the cars. He even says "Cut the juice".
  • The Diaper Change: Also invokes the Improvised Diaper trope when Mr. Bean resorts to stealing a young girl's teddy bear in order to change the baby's diaper. Hilarity Ensues when Mr. Bean places the used diaper on a ride and it flies all over the fairground landing on several unfortunate people along the way.
  • Police Are Useless: Subverted — Mr. Bean tries to get the attention of some people wearing "bobby helmets" (police hats common in the United Kingdom), only to discover a group of kids exiting a building all wearing similar toy police hats.
    • Double Subverted in the final scene where the baby's mother is telling a police officer about her baby going missing, only for the baby and its stroller to land right next to the mother, with the balloons still attached.
