The Unusual Suspects is the twenty-first Moshi Monsters mission and the first mission of Season Three. It is also the first mission to have more than one part. It has three parts.
Part One Recap
It begins outside a volcano. A Poppet is there. Click on the Poppet. The Poppet asks for help. Say yes. The Poppet's name is "Poppet" so maybe she's the one who runs Poppet's Closet. Apparently, she got sent a Valentine's day card and doesn't know who sent it and was told to show the envelope to the Datekeeper. Click on the Gatekeeper and ask if he knows who the Datekeeper is. He replaces himself with a pink statue. Apparently, she's the Gatekeeper's cousin and his confidant. Ask for help and she will ask to be fed the card. Open your inventory (the blue pouch on the far right) and drag the card into the Datekeeper's mouth. She eats it and regurgitates it along with a piece of paper with many faces on it, saying it could be either of those monsters and to click off any of the people who did not send it. The suspects are Raffles, Guiseppe, Roary Scrawl, Shrewman, Mustachio, Ratty, Bubba, Suey and YoYo. Datekeeper says she cannot help with the paragraph but maybe a well-traveled individual can help. Poppet says she knows someone in the jungle who's well-traveled (and just so happens to be another Poppet). She also tells you to give the other Poppet her friendship card.
At the jungle, click on the explorer Poppet. After the conversation, open your inventory and give the Valentine's card to the Poppet. The Poppet says she is doing research and asks for help. Click on the Mini Moshiphone to help with the research (it's Gabby from the previous missions!). Apparently, she's using her new Monstagram app to take pictures of rare frogs. click on red frog. Then, click on the green frog while its mouth is open. Then, a blue frog appears who apparently has a missing twin. Find and click on the frog's twin. Click the bongo plants, then the twin will appear. Click the twins while they're together. The explorer Poppet says that the card mentions "both of my eyes are set firmly on you" so you cross off all the suspects with more or less than two eyes. None of them have less, but two of them (Roary Scrawl and Ratty) have more. The explorer Poppet also found a hair on the card and suggests taking it to a Poppet at the observatory.
Part Two Recap
It begins with a recap. In the observatory, Tamara's out but a Poppet is there. Click to talk to her. She asks for the hair, so open your inventory and drag it onto her. Apparently, it will take a few minutes to analyse and she asks you to help her research constellations. Click on the telescope. Identify which Moshling is in each constellation. She's not done yet, so click the arcade machine to play Space Glenn. To play, use your arrow keys to move a planet so that it eats the star-shaped meteors but not the regular ones. Click the Poppet, who's finished analysing the hair. Apparently, it came from a tail so cross off all the suspects without tails. She apparently also found sand on the card and suggests getting help from a Poppet at Bleurgh Beach.
Part Three Recap
It begins with a recap of Part Two. Then, at Bleurgh Beach, click on the Poppet. Apparently, she'd love to help but is too hot to think straight. She asks for a hat. Click on the shaggy blue monster. Apparently, his name is Baz Barnacle. Ask what he's doing here and he says he's opening a shop but the storm's wrecked his sign. Ask for his hat and he says no but his shop sells hats. He says that the storm blew his hat into three bits and if I can get them, he will get me a hat. One is in a tree, one is under Herman Crab and the other is stuck in Gail Whale's blowhole. If you click the one in the tree, the Super Moshi will say it's too high and you need something long to reach it. Click the oar by the shop, open your inventory and use the oar to get the sign piece down. Then, click the sign and then click on Herman Crab. Your monster suggests using wood to replace the bridge. Use the broken piece of oar. Now, click on Gail Whale. Click on a feather, open your inventory and drag the feather onto Gail so she can sneeze it out. Open your inventory and drag the pieces onto the shop to fix the sign. Then, Baz gives you a hat. Drag it onto the Poppet. Apparently, the author was wearing green so click off the monsters not wearing green. It leaves only YoYo. Then, YoYo himself shows up, so give him the friendship card. He is pleased and you can keep him.

- Extra Eyes: Exploited. The author can't have extra eyes as the letter mentions both eyes.
- Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: The explorer Poppet, the scientist Poppet, the beach Poppet, Raffles, Bubba, Guiseppe, Baz Barnacle, Roary Scrawl and YoYo all wear full sets of clothing.
- Funny Animal: YoYo is an anthropomorphic coyote and Raffles is an anthropomorphic...something.
- Genius Loci: The planet Space Glenn is sentient.
- Interspecies Romance: None of Poppet's potential love interests are Poppets.
- Love Interests: Somebody has a crush on Poppet, it turns out to be YoYo.
- Mister Strangenoun: The Gatekeeper's name is a word, the Datekeeper's name is two words and Baz's last name is Barnacle.
- The Nameless: Poppet's other Poppet friends don't have names.
- Pun: "Cow" is said to be an "a-moo-sing" app, and there's also "glumpass" (glump + compass) and "sicktionary" (a dictionary about illness).
- Red Is Heroic: The Super Moshi's cape and mask are red.
- Smart People Wear Glasses: Played with. The scientist Poppet wears glasses but there are other smart characters (such as the explorer Poppet) who don't.
