Recap / Moshi Monsters Strangeglove From Above

Go To

Strangeglove From Above is the third mission in Moshi Monsters.

It begins with Strangeglove stealing Moshlings from the sky, and Elder Furi telling the Super Moshis to come after him. They do, in planes, and one of them crashes due to having green goo fired at it.Then, there's a mini game, where you use the mouse to move the plane and dodge the drops of goo. If four drops land on you, you will crash.

Then, you are on a cloud where your monster says that you need to supercharge Wurley, but wonders where he is. Click on a cloud nearby. He introduces himseld as Nimbus. You ask him to clean the goo off your plane. He says that he rains when he laughs a lot and wonders if that will help. Your monster says that it knows some really funny jokes and offers to tell them to Nimbus. Nimbus says yes. Select, "Ok, here's my first joke...". The monster then asks what you call a sheep with no legs. Pick "a cloud". He replies, "Haha! Hilarious! I'm a leg less sheep!". Your monster then asks what you call a lazy hurricane. Choose "A slowy-cane". Then, the monster asks what a raincloud wears under its coat. Choose "Thunder-wear". Then, Nimbus bursts out laughing and rains on the plane. Click the plane and you get a game: Use the mouse to scrub the plane with IGGY. If you click on him afterwards, your monster thanks him. Click on the rainbow.

You end up on another cloud with some buildings. Wurley looks a bit out-of-sorts. Click on a Pluff, who says, "Hi there! I love kites!". You tell the Pluff that Wurley is broken and ask for help. It suggests that you give him a kite and that kites always cheer him up. Your monster says it's worth a try. The Pluff says that it will make you a kite if you bring it some kite supplies. When you ask what it needs, it says that it wants string, material, sticks and glue. First, find a string on the windmill. Then ope your inventory (the blue bag on the right) and pass it to the Pluff. He states that it is vital to stop the kite flying away. If you scroll to the left, you click some sticks. Then, you find Nimbus again and tell him that Wurley is broken. Nimbus suggests that lightning could help but adds that he only makes lightning when angry. To make him angry, tell him about how Strangeglove is stealing Moshlings and turning them into Glumps for a Glump army. Finally, select "eek" to make Nimbus into an angry storm cloud. Your monster then gets the idea of using the kite plus the lightning to charge Wurley. Give ther Pluff the sticks. Click the rainbow again.

On the other side of the rainbow, pick up a ribbon and some goo. Then, come back.

By the buildings, pass the goo and ribbon to the Pluff. He then passes you a kite. Open your inventory and give it to Wurley. Then, click Nimbus to make him strike Wurley. It works. Then, click on Wurley to put him in your inventory and cross the rainbow again,

On the other side, drag Wurley onto the plane. You get a game where you also control the plane with the mouse, and this time you collect lightning as well as avoiding goo. If you collect enough lightning, you o faster, but if you bump into too much goo, you go slower.

You end up sucked into a room behind a gate. Exploring leads you to discover a pipe that's too small for you but maybe Wurley can fix it. Click him to send him through the pipe. Click on a cog, then on the pipe on the gate-opening machine to connect it together. Then, press a lever to release a green liquid through the pipe. Then, open your inventory and drag the pipe onto the machine. Finally, click "open gate". Then, the gate opens and your monster escapes. Both of you then go into the next room.

Your monster can hear sounds on the door. Click the window to peek through it and Strangeglove talks to Sweet Tooth, who says that everything is going to plan, but then Squiff says, "Intruder alert" and lights flash. Click the ladder.

Then, you will see a robot using a Moshling to work the machines. Click the robot and you get a game where you quickly tap the spacebar to break the machine. Click on the Moshling, whose name is Plinky, and you can adopt her. Then, click the hole in the airship.

You end up at the Volcano, where Elder Furi asks what happened. You tell him about crashing and reviving Wurley, being in the airship prison, seeing Strangeglove's assistants, and rescuing Plinky. Say goodbye, and then the mission ends.

This mission provides examples of

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: The Pluff who helps you and Sweet Tooth both wear only shoes.
  • Ambiguous Gender:
    • The Pluff's gender is not revealed.
    • Sweet Tooth features and no-one knows what gender they are.
  • Animate Inanimate Object:
    • Plinky looks like a walking accordion.
    • Nimbus is a talking cloud.
  • Barefoot Cartoon Animal: Played straight for Elder Furi, who wears a cloak but no shoes, and inverted for Sweet Tooth and the Pluff, who wear nothing but shoes.
  • Cartoon Creature: We do not know the species of Strangeglove and Sweet Tooth.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: The Pluff's way of starting a conversation is, "Hi there. I love kites.". The same Pluff also seems to believe that being cheered up and being repaired are the same thing.
  • Cruella to Animals: Strangeglove is evil enough to turn Moshlings into Glumps and use them to power machines.
  • Dark Is Evil: Strangeglove wears dark clothes and his plane is mostly dark.
  • Evil Plan: Dr Strangeglove's evil plan to steal Moshlings, turn them into Glumps and use the Glumps to take over Monstro City is mentioned and exploited to make Nimbus angry.
  • Extra Eyes: Squiff has three eyes.
  • Failure Is the Only Option: In the first dodging the goo game, there's no choice but to eventually crash. Averted for the mission itself, though.
  • Flight: Both Whirley and Nimbus can fly.
  • Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Strangeglove wears his full suit of clothes.
  • Happy Rain: Nimbus rains when he laughs.
  • Harmless Electrocution: Exaggerated for Wurley. Being struck by lightning is what he needs to fix him. Justified as he is a robot that works differently from real life animals.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: Elder Furi somehow knows that the villainous group is named C.L.O.N.C.
  • Meaningful Name: Nimbus is a cloud. A nimbus cloud is a type of cloud in Real Life.
  • Mister Strangenoun: Doctor Strangeglove and Sweet Tooth both have words in their names.
  • Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: The main villain is Doctor Strangeglove.
  • The Nameless: The Pluff who helps you never tells you their name.
  • No Name Given: The Pluff who helps you might have a name, but it's not known.
  • Level in the Clouds: The city made of clouds is displayed as a level in the cloudy sky, seeing as Moshi Monsters is a video game, albeit not a platform game.
  • Light Is Not Good: Sweet Tooth is more colourful-looking than the other villains, but no less evil. Averted for the Cloud Kingdom itself, which is light and good.
  • Pun: The "thunder-wear" joke was a pun. Nimbus also makes a pun of his own while laughing at one of your jokes.
    Nimbus: "A slowy-cane, not a hurry-cane!"
  • The Reveal: This is the first time that Elder Furi finds out that Strangeglove is not working alone.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: Whirley is a type of robot.
  • Servant Race: Discussed. To make Nimbus angry, the Super Moshi talks about Moshlings being turned into Glumps to make up Strangeglove's army.
  • Shapeshifting: Moshlings being turned into Glumps are mentioned.
  • Shoot the Dog: A minor one. You have to purposefully make Nimbus angry in order to charge up Wurley.
  • Solid Clouds: Your monster and the Moshlings are able to walk on the clouds.
  • Superheroes Wear Capes: Your Super Moshi wears his or her normal red cape.
  • Volcano Lair: You are inside The Volcano at the end of the mission.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Sweet Tooth is interrupted in the middle of a sentence. We never find out the rest of that sentence.
