MK brings his friends to try and free Sun Wukong and defeat the strange ink demons that came out of the scroll, only to lose Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy to it. When all hope seems lost, a new figure, Azure Lion, comes to defend them…
Tropes:
- Apologetic Attacker: Azure Lion quietly says "Forgive me, Brothers" before cutting down the ink versions of Yellowtusk and Peng.
- Big Damn Heroes: Azure Lion arrives from seemingly nowhere just in time to defend MK and Mei from The Curse and reseal the scroll.
- Cool Uncle: Discussed. Azure says that Sun Wukong was once his Sworn Brother, which prompts Mei to ask if this means he's MK's 'Sworn Uncle.' MK casually reminds her that he's not Sun Wukong's son.
- Dead Hat Shot: When Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy are caught by the Curse and pulled into the Memory Scroll, Tang's glasses fly off and fall in front of MK, with the camera focusing on them for a few moments. Downplayed as the characters aren't dead, merely imprisoned.
- Distressed Dude: Midway through the episode, Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy (along with Mo) are pulled into the scroll and trapped.
- Flashback: The episode begins with a flashback to Sun Wukong's youth with the Brotherhood.
- Insistent Terminology:Tang: So you're saying you unlocked a cursed scroll and were attacked by DBK, Iron Fan, Spider Queen, Nezha, and some demons you've never seen before?MK: No, I said we were attacked by ink versions of DBK, Iron Fan, Spider Queen, Nezha, and some demons we've never seen before.
- Painting the Fourth Wall: In the aforementioned Insistent Terminology exchange, images of the named characters appear in the background as they're listed off. When MK clarifies they were ink versions of them, he grabs a bucket of ink and splashes it over the characters.
- Power Incontinence: Tang tries to use his newfound powers to defeat the Curse and reseal the Memory Scroll… but, as he's had very little experience with actually using said powers, nothing happens.
- True Companions:
- Discussed. Azure says that since MK and Mei have such a strong bond with their missing friends, it shouldn't be difficult at all to find them.
- Mei refuses to let MK go into the Memory Scroll alone, no matter how dangerous it might be.
