Recap / Monkie Kid S 2 E 10 This Is The End

Go To

After gathering all the secret ingredients, Lady Bone Demon creates a powerful bone mech which she uses to attack MK while he is out training.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Ambiguous Situation: It's unclear just what Lady Bone Demon did to the city as Monkey King retreated with MK, as the city was last seen being enveloped in light once the Bone Mech's chains were broken. Later episodes would reveal that she froze almost the entire city in ice.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Lady Bone Demon finds herself completing her plan in a single episode. After constructing her bone mech, she engages in battle with MK, forcing him to use up all his power to power up her mech to its completion, and manages to steal the staff as well, leaving MK powerless after being drained.
  • Batman Gambit: The crux of Lady Bone Demon's plan hinged on MK using up his power, leaving her to absorb it into the Bone Mech in order to complete it. And fortunately for her (And unfortunately for the heroes), it works swimmingly.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as MK finds himself on the very brink of defeat to Lady Bone Demon, Monkey King arrives just in time to interrupt her, saving MK and escaping with him.
  • Brought Down to Normal: MK loses his staff and almost all of his powers. It is implied that Monkey King has lost his immortality, and may lose more than that if they don't defeat Lady Bone Demon soon.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: MK's rematch with Lady Bone Demon goes even worse than his first encounter with her in Minor Scale. He ends up falling into her Batman Gambit as mentioned above leading to the Bone Mech's completion, his Monkey Mech is DECIMATED in his attempt to use it against her, his attempts to fight back are completely halted, and he's nearly frozen solid as well before Monkey King comes to save him.
  • Exact Words: When Spider Queen is about to be thrown into the furnace by Lady Bone Demon, to power the Bone Mech, she begs for her life citing that the former promised her destiny. Lady Bone Demon assures her that she didn’t break that promise, but she never clarified what her destiny would be until now.
  • Humongous Mecha: The Bone Mech, Lady Bone Demon's master plan, is the epitome of this, being several times bigger than MK's Monkey Mech and towering over the city.
  • Internal Reveal: MK finally tells his friends about LBD but, by the time he says her name, she arrives to officially introduce herself.
  • Manly Tears: MK ends up crying as he's on the verge of defeat by Lady Bone Demon and begging her to stop her plan, as well as when he's forced to retreat as Lady Bone Demon envelops the city in light.
  • Properly Paranoid: Tang prevents his friends from going through the ominus blue circle in front of them, the same way MK did. It doesn't take long to find out why.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: Despite Lady Bone Demon winning the battle as mentioned above, the story isn't over yet, as Monkey King manages to save MK, and brings out a plan to go on a journey to find a weapon that could defeat Lady Bone Demon, with MK and the others tagging along with him.
  • Vagueness Is Coming: Lady Bone Demon tells Monkey King that "destiny cannot be undone". After staring at the staff and then at MK, he responds equally vaguely, "Let's test that theory."
  • What the Hell, Hero?: After Monkey King returns, Pigsy chews him out big time for not being there when MK needed him the entire season.
Pigsy: What could’ve been so important that you’d leave MK alone to face that… that thing?! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE HIS MENTOR!
  • The Worf Effect:
    • The dragon-powered Mei, and the rest of MK's friends by extension, are instantly beaten by Lady Bone Demon.
    • The Monkey Mech MK used in the pilot and the first season finale ends up on the receiving end of this, being DWARFED by the completed Bone Mech's size to the point it can be grabbed in its hand, and its head is instantly blown off to pieces as well by Lady Bone Demon's power.
