Air date: August 26, 2019 (PBS); August 8, 2020 (CBC)

Fiddle of Nowhere: Oscar's fiddle string breaks on the day of the annual fiddle festival.

"Fiddle of Nowhere" contains the following tropes:

  • Expecting Someone Taller: When Molly initially tries to imagine what Finnegan King looks like, she pictures a man with similar features to her dad, but with longer hair. When she meets King, he has long hair, but he doesn't look at all like Molly imagined.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The back of one of the magazines Molly delivers to Oscar has a hurricane of tent puns.
  • Hero Worship: Oscar is a staunch admirer of Finnegan King, Qyah's most famous son.
  • Instant Expert: After just one fiddle lesson, Mr. Patak can smoothly play scales and a few simple tunes.
  • Left The Back Ground Music On: While Oscar is deciding whether to take the long trek to see the Fiddler in the Woods about a string, music swells in the background. Oscar notices and looks up to see Mr. Patak playing a fiddle.
  • Pun-Based Title: "Fiddle of Nowhere" is a play on the phrase, "middle of nowhere." Indeed, Finnegan King does live in a cabin miles outside of Qyah, seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

A Splash of Mink: Molly and Trini encounter a tiny mink on their way to a dance at Qyah Tribal Hall, which leaves them covered in a stinky smell.

"A Splash of Mink" contains the following tropes:

  • An Aesop: Get your information from a trusted source.
  • Smelly Mink: Molly, Trini and Suki get sprayed by a mink, and everyone around them is repulsed by the smell.
  • Tomato Skunk Stink Cure: Molly and Trini attempt this after looking it up online, particularly after Maurice, who also believes tomato juice is a de-stinking agent, quickly hands over a crate of the stuff before the girls can even ask for it. It doesn't work.
