Tropes in this episode:
- Bad "Bad Acting": Invoked with the over-the-top Incurable Cough of Death which makes it clear Dolores will not survive the show.
- Bestiality Is Depraved: King Tim and his peculiar pride in sheep. Notable since this trope is usually defied in MMNI, with human/animal relationships being considered more or less fine.
- Comically Missingthe Point: There is a long section building up Lucreechietta to be queen, as the most capable person there, the direct heir of the rightful king, and the only person able to awaken the Royal Mace, after which Tim takes off his crown, approaches her, and attempts to crown the unborn child. It unceremoniously falls to the floor.
- Evil Is Petty: King Tim, whose stated goal for stealing Arthur's sheep is to “have the fluffiest and wooliest jumper in the land!”.
- Excalibur: The King’s Mace is a clear expy.
- Freudian Excuse: Tim’s reign of terror is apparently him seeking warmth and affection that Arthur got from their father, but he never did.
- Instant Birth: Just Add Labour!: Arthur tries to invoke this trope as a race to see which of the heirs will be born first and, as such, crowned.
- Laughably Evil: King Tim is completely ridiculous.
- Leitmotif: Español has his own theme tune (which it seems the other characters can hear).
- Non-Specifically Foreign: Dave’s Ambiguously European accent for Español, whom Oscar refers to as Español the Frenchman.
- Not So Above It All: Oscar is never able to pronounce Lucreechietta’s name either, which is especially noteworthy since he spent the entire first run berating Harry Kershaw for not remembering names.
- Overly Long Gag: Hen and Niall take joy in dragging out the slow motion scene, especially when Oscar demands that it end.
- Parody Product Placement: The stairlift advert. In mediaeval England.
- Psychopathic Manchild: Tim has a fair few instances of this, most obviously in his rage at being betrayed by Samantha.King Tim: You’re carrying my heir; we sang the making a baby song together!
- Repeating So the Audience Can Hear: Arthur asking Lucreechietta to repeat the message in their secret encoded letters (due to the nature of the show, this is also likely Hen asking to be caught up with the plot).
- Shoehorned Acronym: Arthur captures Tim using NETS - Not Easily Traversable… System.
- Shrouded in Myth: Español, who has been in the camelot dungeon for 62 years, is a legend, rumoured to be a shadow on the wind or not even real.
- Slow-Motion Fall: There is a surprisingly good one from Dave when he’s killed in the slow-mo scene given that it's a live action show.
- Suddenly Shouting: Español becomes very enthusiastic once he knows the Princess is pregnant.
- This Is Gonna Suck: As soon as Tim mentions that Beard was a great tap dancer, Beard laughs despite the fact that he’s dead. He knew damn well that Oscar would demand a Cutaway Gag of that.
- Tom the Dark Lord: King Tim’s name is one of the first things that mark him out as a false king and not a particularly threatening villain.
- The Unpronounceable: Lucreechietta, to the point that the announcement of her name makes the cast laugh as they realise what they’re in for. Everyone, but especially Arthur, not being able to pronounce her name becomes a Running Gag.
