"Miraculer. Your friend has rejected you because she's only interested in other people's powers. Well, I'm giving you the power to steal those powers from them, and win back your friendship! And in return, you will bring me Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous!"
Hawk Moth

Sabrina gets akumatized by Hawk Moth. Now Miraculer, she can steal their powers from superheroes and is determined to show Chloé that she is just as worthy of her interest as Ladybug. Meanwhile, Nathalie gets some literal(and very risky)on-the-job training as Mayura.

Tropes:

  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Miraculer's power-stealing ability works even when she hits Carapace right in the middle of his shield.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Mayura gives one, actually several, to Queen Bee:
Mayura: Let me ask you just one question: do you enjoy being Ladybug's servant? Having to wait for her to loan you your Miraculous? Wouldn't you rather have boundless powers of your own?
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth and Mayura stand back to back just as they enact their plan.
  • Batman Gambit: Gabriel tells Lila about Adrien's friendship with Chloé, trusting that Lila will get jealous and make an effort to sabotage Chloé, thereby making her mad enough to be vulnerable to akumatization.
  • Battle Discretion Shot: The entire fight against Destroyer happens off-screen, all we get to see is the Miraculous Ladybug effect afterwards.
  • BFS: After stealing Ladybug's powers, Miraculer's first Lucky Charm summons a massive sword menacing with Spikes of Villainy.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Chloé rejoins the fight against Miraculer just in time to undo her.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: While Ladybug makes a point that Chloé shouldn't be in the field due to everyone knowing she is Queen Bee, Chloé makes a point that Cat Noir wouldn't have any trouble dealing with Miraculer if he and Ladybug allowed her to become Queen Bee. Cat Noir acknowledges the latter.
  • Break Them by Talking: In their face off, Mayura pulls this on Queen Bee in an attempt to get her to join her and Hawk Moth.
  • Broken Pedestal: When Ladybug tells Chloé that she probably can't be Queen Bee any more, she tears up her photograph of the two of them, saying she no longer wants to play the Ladybug role.
  • Call-Back: Miraculer uses the same taunt as Nightmare Ladybug from "Sandboy" when fighting Cat Noir.
Miraculer: Stay still, you mangy cat. Here kitty, kitty, kitty. Come on!
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Chloé, as she's done before in "Heroes Day Part 1: Catalyst" and "Stormy Weather 2" tries signaling Ladybug with her "Queen Bee" spotlight.
    • The Ladybug and Cat Noir cosplay Chloé and Sabrina do in "Antibug" return.
    • Chloé's butler tries to cheer her up with her teddy bear, from "Despair Bear".
    • Baby August from "Gigantitan" still wants a lollipop.
    • The exact same Lucky Charm BFS from "Antibug" and "Sandboy" returns, summoned by Miraculer when she takes Ladybug's powers.
    • After finding out what being Cataclysmed feels like, Plagg says he'll never call the dinosaurs a bunch of wusses ever again, a reference to "Style Queen", where it was mentioned that Plagg accidentally caused their extinction through reckless Cataclysm use.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Chloé responds to Mayura's question by pointing out that it was three questions.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses on Chloé, and her hopes of becoming Queen Bee again.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Marinette's attempt to reassure Chloé only makes her angrier and more defensive.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Cat Noir spends most of the episode with damaged ribs after getting hit with Cataclysm.
  • Eye Twitch: One of Chloé's eyes twitches a couple of times while she's fighting off the akumatisation.
  • Face–Heel Turn: The whole episode is devoted to Hawk Moth and Mayura trying to get Chloé to pull one of these. They fail...for now.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Defied. Chloé (as Queen Bee) grabs Miraculer and tells Ladybug she's ticklish. When Miraculer indignantly says she thought they were friends, Chloé shoots back that Sabrina is her friend, not Miraculer.
  • Foreshadowing: Hawk Moth is convinced that Queen Bee will change her mind and join him one day.
  • Funny Background Event: Mayura fighting with Cat Noir as Miraculer and Chloé talk.
  • Hammerspace: Miraculer can make her tonfa disappear just by putting it behind her back.
  • Heroic Willpower: Chloé refuses to fall victim to Hawk Moth's akuma, tossing aside the photo it was possessing. Hawk Moth targets Sabrina, instead, since she's also vulnerable at the moment.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Defied, when heroes try to use Miraculer's Cataclysm against her, she simply cancels it.
  • Humiliation Conga: Chloé is put through one after Lila claims to be better friends with Ladybug than she is. She is skipped over in the battle against a major villain (The Destroyer), gets passed over again after getting her hopes up about the lollipop monster, then is reduced to trying the completely bogus Ladybug summoning dance that Lila told her about. When she confronts Lila later, Lila says that since Ladybug did show up that meant the dance worked.
  • Hybrid Power: With the stolen superpowers, Miraculer can hybridise them; she is able to cast Cataclysm from her own Lucky Charm.
  • Imagination-Based Superpower: Mayura's power to turn emotions into sentimonsters seems less restricted than Hawk Moth's, since no telepathic conversation or consent was required to turn August's tantrum over a lollipop into a giant monster.
  • Le Parkour: Alya and Nino are practicing on Le Pont des Arts on what is obviously a date, as when they get to the end they tap their ice cream glasses (from André's, natch). They are really getting the hang of this superhero gig.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Cat Noir doesn't seem to think very much of struggling to move around after Miraculer Cataclysms him. He's obviously in pain, but he (tries) to brush off his injury as if it was nothing, acting completely nonchalant when Ladybug questions him about it.
Cat Noir: Oh, it's nothing, I just got Cataclysmed in the ribs. I'll be fine.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Mayura actually gets her filthy hands on the Bee Miraculous, and would have made off with it if Cat Noir hadn't hit her with his staff at just the right time.
  • Noodle Implement: Whatever villain they fought at the start, Ladybug defeated it somehow with a rubber duck.
  • No-Sell: Chloé manages to reject Hawk Moth's akuma, the first person to be shown to be able to do so.
  • Odd Name Out: When trying to control her, Hawk Moth calls Chloé by her real name. It's not made clear whether this was because he was only planning to use the akuma to talk to Chloé and then recall it after getting Chloé on his side, or whether he had actually planned a villain-form and associated name for later.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Ladybug puts off telling Chloé her decision about Queen Bee, leaving Chloé to work herself up with false hopes and almost get akumatized, and Chloé then takes out her frustration on Sabrina and gets her akumatized.
  • Power Parasite: Miraculer is able to steal the superheroes' powers, then use them at will or redistribute them to others.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Chloé gives one to Sabrina when the latter attempts to start their roleplay while she is depressed of Ladybug not coming to her once again.
Sabrina: That's okay. We can still play Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Chloé: Play?! With you?! Who are you, anyway? You don't have any powers, you're a nobody! I'm a superheroine, okay? I'm Queen Bee. You and I have nothing in common. Go away!
  • Spell Blade: Miraculer is fond of using Cataclysm to empower the items she summons using Lucky Charm, such as a hairdryer that shoots Cataclysm blasts or a sledgehammer that creates a shockwave of destruction when it smashes the ground.
  • Superpower Lottery: Sabrina gets lucky this time. In a city with multiple superheroes, the ability to steal their powers and use them herself — all at once, and without the limited use clause the real heroes are bound to — is rather wonderful.
  • Tickle Torture: How is Miraculer defeated? Brief flashbacks while playing with Chloé reveal Sabrina to be ticklish. The Lucky Charm turns out to be a feather-filled pillow, which Ladybug tears open and pulls out a feather while Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee restrain Miraculer. The villain is then forced to shift Carapace's Shell-ter from her akumatized staff to protect her exposed armpits.
  • Troll: Lila clearly enjoys manipulating and messing with Chloé. She also manages to make her do an utterly ridiculous summoning dance and successfully convinces her that it worked.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: After failing to beat Queen Bee, Mayura jumps off the building and instantly vanishes without a trace.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Hawk Moth has taken an interest in Chloé for avoiding her akumatization.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Ultimately what Hawk Moth and Mayura set out to do, they seem to have achieved. While Chloé rejects the idea, believing Ladybug will eventually need her, Ladybug tells Chloé she can no longer entrust her with the Bee Miraculous because of the threat that it places upon both Chloé and her family. This appears to have put a severe dent in Chloé's faith and admiration of Ladybug.
    • What Caline Bustier almost achieved, Chloé, of all people, does: she rejects an akuma.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Miraculer gives some chewing out towards Ladybug for not allowing Chloé to become Queen Bee.
  • Xanatos Gambit: While the villains fail to steal any Miraculous, Chloé being told she won't be Queen Bee may have fulfilled their second goal of turning her against Ladybug. Hawk Moth certainly thinks he came out ahead, gleefully declaring that this episode's events have "set the stage" for the future.
