- Bizarre Taste in Food: Craig likes to treat himself to mustard packets whenever he succeeds at something.
- Chekhov's Gun: Their Burst Appendix button is introduced, later used to rupture a pizza man's appendix to lead Sam to the gyro place.
- Disproportionate Retribution: God wants Sanjay to explode Bill Maher's penis for making fun of him.
- Glad You Thought of It: A Running Gag has God come up with an idea and passing it off as Sanjay's.
- Inventional Wisdom: The penis-enlarging machine at the Department of Genitals requires that you look directly at the penis as you pump it or else it won't work. Even the guys at the Department of Genitals don't have an explanation for this.
- Mama's Boy: Sam is close to his grandmother. Very close.
- Running Gag:
- God comes up with a dumb/petty idea and passes it off as Sanjay's.
- Two characters pronouncing "gyros" differently.
- Ruptured Appendix: The Department of Answering Prayers has a button that causes this on command.
- Skewed Priorities: God wants Bill Maher dead now. Two weeks when the Earth explodes isn't short enough time for him.
