Zack and Melissa help Milo as he tries to finally finish a race he runs every year but is always stopped from crossing the finish line by Murphy's Law. Meanwhile, Dakota and Cavendish try to find a way to sabotage Brick and Savannah's pistachio assignment, but end up stuck on the old west.

- Continuity Nod: Melissa is about as hopeless at athletics as she was in Athledemacamathalon.
- Exact Words: Milo's hope is that he will finally be able to cross the finish line. After realizing they can't predict everything that could go wrong, Melissa and Zack create a new finish line for Milo to cross.
- Get Back to the Future: Cavendish and Dakota end up in the 1870s due to Milo passing through them, and spend the rest of the episode trying to find a way to fix their car and get out.
- Goofy Print Underwear: Spots on Dakota's.
- Noodle Incident: Apparently Cavendish and Dakota used to be given a better time machine, but ended up destroying the Earth's second moon and started getting outdated cars instead because of it.
- Overly Narrow Superlative: Sheriff Murphy comments that the tailor making Dakota's old west outfit is the best in town. The Sheriff also admits he's the only tailor in town. Upon learning that Cavendish and Dakota are time travellers, Sheriff Murphy tells them the other ones stuck in his time meet at a corral which he describes as the best in town. He also admits it's the only one in town.
- Running Gag: Milo's repeated use of inspirational shark mantras that he read in a book. Also, there's a recurring desire from Dakota to use the word "reckon".
- Trapped in the Past: Due to Sheriff Murphy's existence, his town is a place where time travellers accidentally end up often, and most of them usually decide to just keep living there.
