Recap / Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers S3E38 Attack of the 60' Bulk

Go To

The Ranger Kids are given a chance to forget their troubles for a day, by hanging out at the Splash City Water Park. But their fun is soon spoiled by Young Bulk and Skull's mischievous pranks. Inspired by these antics, Zedd & Rita transform Bulk into the Brat Boy monster! Can the Aquitians return from their planet in time to save the city, and save Bulk from himself? Meanwhile, Rito & Goldar are sent into the tunnels underneath the Command Center on a mission to blow up the building from below... but they quickly lose the map! And above, Zordon & Alpha 5 finally come up with a plan to restore the Earth to its proper physical age.

Tropes

  • All Just a Dream: When Bulk comes to after being changed back, the others convince him that he hit his head on the waterslide and that none of the Brat Boy stuff happened for real. When Skull comes along and asks his pal about what it was like being a monster, Bulk brushes him off and they go back to their regular lives.
  • The Cameo: When Brat Boy is turned back into Bulk, Paul Schrier makes a brief reappearance before the character is zapped back into his younger self. Doubles as a Creator Cameo, as Schrier directed this episode, the first of many he would direct.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The Zeo Crystal introduced in "Master Vile and the Metallic Armor" comes back into play as set up for the upcoming season.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: The Rangers splitting up the Zeo Crystal and sending it through the timestream at the end of "Master Vile and the Metallic Armor" comes back to bite them in the ass. Yes, it kept it out of Vile's hands...but now that it turns out it's their only way to reverse the Orb of Doom's magic, it's ironically out of their reach as well for the moment.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: The gang tells Bulk that he's being controlled by Rita and Zedd, making him get out of being transformed.
