Rita Repulsa has been removed from power, and now her master Lord Zedd threatens the Earth with powers unlike anything ever seen before. The Power Rangers must step up their game if they hope to survive against this new enemy.

- Achilles' Heel: The Z-Putties' insignia on their chests. Jason discovers this when helping Tommy during the fight.
- Badass Boast: "I am Lord Zedd, emperor of all I see!"
- Creator Cameo: Pirantishead is voiced by Scott Page-Pagter, who became the ADR Director from here to Wild Force.
- Eviler than Thou: Zedd effortlessly demonstrates this to Rita—gaining her minions, taking her power, and exiling her in humiliating fashion. The Rangers are also distressed to learn they've been facing one of Zedd's underlings the entire time.
- Fake Shemp: As they had yet to find an American actress to portray Rita and Lord Zedd did not exist in Zyuranger, all scenes of Rita interacting with him don't show her face, inter cut with reaction shots of her from stock footage or as a small figurine after she's been shrunk.
- I Shall Return: As she's being banished, Rita swears she'll return.Rita: I'll be back! You haven't seen the last of Rita Repulsa!
- Make Way for the New Villains: Zedd unceremoniously ousts Rita, with all of her minions (especially Goldar) jumping ship to serve him.
- Mandatory Line: Scorpina gets one line before Zedd announces his presence. Averted with Finster, who can be seen in a group shot but says nothing.
- Misplaced Wildlife: Pirahna's are local to South America, not Angel Grove, California where the series takes place. Then again, it could've been a released pet that certainly holds true in real life.
- My Significance Sense Is Tingling: While racing, the Rangers sense strange lightning above them but knew it can't be a regular storm. Even Bulk and Skull noticed them.Skull: Bulk, I think something weird is going on.
Bulk: Yeah, I'm looking at it!
[A particularly loud thunder strike. They run off.] - Not Quite Dead: Zedd expresses surprise that Zordon is still alive.
- Oh, Crap!: Just about everyone has this reaction to Lord Zedd's arrival.
- Oh, No... Not Again!: Rita gets sealed into the dumpster, again.
- Pass the Popcorn: Squatt and Baboo are snickering, as Zedd chews out Rita.
- Pet the Dog: Zedd rewards Goldar's loyalty by giving him back his wings.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech:Rita: Oh, Lord Zedd, give me another chance! I will not fail again!
Zedd: QUIET! Those Power Rangers are nothing but mere infants! You were defeated by children! You dare call yourself an empress of evil?! You are not fit to destroy a cockroach! - Retcon: Rita being in service to Zedd despite there being no mention of him at all during Season One (or any evidence that Rita was actually an underling at all).
- Secret Chaser: Bulk says he and Skull are going to find out who the Rangers really are, giving them a storyline for the season.
- Self-Deprecation / Self-Parody: When Lord Zedd first arrives, Zordon says he has no idea what the villain may have in store. Zack quips "I got a feeling it ain't Pudgy Pig."
- Shout-Out: When Lord Zedd shrinks Rita and banishes her in a new, smaller space dumpster, Rita cries out like the Wicked Witch of the West, "I'm Shrinking, shrinking! Oh, what a planet!"
- Story Arc:
- Bulk and Skull begins their quest to find out the identities of the Power Rangers.
- This is also the beginning of Tommy's powers weakening periodically.
- To Be Continued: "Oh, man, he froze the Zords! We're history!"
- Wham Line: Goldar introducing us to Zedd, revealing that, as Kimberly later puts it, there's someone WORSE than Rita.Goldar: Lord Zedd, the true emperor, has returned.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Scorpina disappears following Lord Zedd's arrival. Partially justified, as they couldn't find an actress to portray her at the time. And even then, when they tried to bring her back for later episodes, scheduling conflicts with filming the series and the movie caused them to drop her completely and the actress was never contacted for further appearances.
- Wrong Genre Savvy: Bulk and Skull found Jason and his friends' abandoned carts. They later believe Zedd's Putties scared them off.Skull: They chickened out!
- You Have Failed Me: Lord Zedd scolds Rita for her failure to conquer Earth, and for allowing herself to be defeated by "mere infants"/"children". He even refuses to give her one last chance to prove herself.
