Recap / Mighty Max S 1 E 8 Normans Conquest

Go To

The brutal warrior who killed Norman's father awakens after being frozen in ice, and comes after Norman to finish wiping out the family.

Tropes:

  • Cutting the Knot: Norman needs his father's waraxe to avenge the man's death, but it's already been sent away to a museum and put under heavy security. Virgil comes up with a genius plan to disable the alarm wire, use a mirror to deflect the infrared sensor, and then exchange an object of equal weight in order to circumvent the pressure switch. Max tells him he has a "better idea" and smashes the display case with a board.
  • Disney Villain Death: Norman shoves Spike off a cliff to finish their battle. Hopefully it took this time.
  • For the Evulz: Spike doesn't have any real reason to have a grudge with Norman's family. He just seems to want to finish the job he started by killing Norman's father... not that he had any particularly good reason to do that either.
  • Hollywood Magnetism: Somehow, Max is able to pick Spike up with one of those magnetic cranes they use at junkyards and drop him into a car crusher. Unless Spike's supposed to be wearing heavy armor or something (which he seems to have no need for, see The Juggernaut), this makes no sense.
  • Human Popsicle: Apparently how Spike survived until modern times.
  • If You Kill Him, You Will Be Just Like Him!: Spike tries to use this save himself when Norman starts winning their battle. Norman doesn't care.
Spike: If you kill me... you'll be no better than me!
Norman: I can live with that. (Norman throws Spike off a cliff.)
  • The Juggernaut: Nothing seems to slow Spike down. Even when he's dropped into a car crusher, he just muscles his way out, totally unhurt.
  • My Greatest Failure: Norman's still haunted by being unable to get his father's axe to him in time, leading to the old warrior's death at Spike's hands.

Subverted. Before his death, Spike attempts to save himself, by saying this. It doesn't work.
