Death and Dust is the fifth episode of the tenth series of Midsomer Murders and was first aired on 8th May 2007.

When Dr Alan Delaney is killed by a hit-and-run driver, Barnaby realises that the real target was Delaney's senior partner, Dr James Kirkwood. Is the killer trying to prevent James from marrying beautiful divorcee Delyth Mostyn? How is the death linked to the £30,000 which is missing from the surgery account?

  • Car Fu: The first Victim of the Week gets out of his car to clear a fallen tree on the road, and is run down by the car that has been tailing him. It later turns out to be a case of Murder by Mistake.
  • Grammar Correction Gag: A woman—a retired English teacher—receives an anonymous note, warning her about her fiance's past affairs. The note turns out to be from her children who do not want her to remarry. When she finds out, she delivers a stinging response that ends with:
"And you don't need a comma between 'Hepworth' and 'and'. It's completely redundant."
  • Murder by Mistake: Dr Alan Delaney is run down because he is driving the intended target's car.
