Go To

"Hats Enough" is the 6th episode of Season 5 of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the 83nd in the series.

Mickey suffers an identity crisis after realizing that all of his friends, except him, have signature hats.

Tropes:

  • Be Yourself: The moral of this episode, which Mickey soon learns.
  • Cassandra Truth: Everyone ignores Donald, who is the only one to point out the flowered hat Minnie considers buying is exactly the same as the one she's wearing.
  • Costume-Test Montage: As Mickey tries on a series of new hats.
  • Dunce Cap: A dunce cap is one of the hats that Mickey tries on.
  • Here We Go Again!: Donald says it when Minnie sees another item of clothing she wants to buy. When Mickey rejoins them near the end, Minnie is looking at shoes identical to the ones she's wearing, showing that Donald was right.
  • Identity Breakdown: After all his friends point out how they wouldn't be anywhere without their hats, Mickey realizes that he doesn't wear one, which leads to a Freak Out.
Mickey: If I don't have a hat, who am I? And what size hat do I wear?!
  • Idiot Ball: Minnie and everyone grab it when Minnie tries on a hat, but remains oblivious that it's the same hat as her's and finally realizes the shoes she was picking out were identical to the one's she's wearing.
  • Improvised Parachute: Mickey's ears turn into parachutes and save him from falling off a high building.
  • Mythology Gag: Of course, an episode like this would contain references to the hats Mickey has worn over the years:
    • One of the hats Mickey tries is the boat captain hat from Steamboat Willie and briefly re-enacts the iconic scene from it before being punched out by Pete.
    • Another hat Mickey tries is the sorcerer's cap from Fantasia.
  • Only Sane Man: Donald is the only one who is fully aware that the hat and shoes Minnie were picking out are the same thing.
