Dethklok has a bad case of the blues, and it's up to an old blues musician to help them get out of their funk.
- At the Crossroads: The band meets the Blues Devil at the Crossroads.
- Boxing Lessons for Superman: Skwisgaar and Toki have cinderblocks tied to their wrists so they can play "grandpa's guitars" (acoustic) at a non-metal pace.
- Deal with the Devil: Every blues musician makes a deal with the Blues Devil. Dethklok talk him down from selling their souls to giving him a $5 Hot Topic gift card.
- The Deep South: Most of the episode takes place in the South, the birthplace of the blues. Specifically, in Mississippi.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Mustard Tits "the Murder Master" Brown killed 22 men just for being ugly. He then recorded "Here Come That Train A-Coming Blues."
- Eye Scream: During Dethklok's concert, one woman pulls her eyes out.
- Groin Attack: Skwisgaar and Toki ahave cinderblocks tied to their wrists to have them be able to play acoustic guitars. Toki smacks himself with one of the blocks.Toki: Oh! I gots the hit in the balls with the train cinderblock right in the balls!
- Heartbreak and Ice Cream: Murderface is eating a tub of ice cream with Prozac sprinkles.
- Heroic BSoD: The episode starts with Dethklok so depressed they can't perform any shows.
- Lurid Tales of Doom: The tabloid Nathan throws down is reporting he's getting fatter after the blue concert.
- Magical Negro: Mashed Potato Johnson manages to get inside Mordhaus, to the band's surprise. He explains he's a blues man, and a blues man can get in anywhere. He's also responsible for teaching Dethklok about the blues.
- Mike Nelson, Destroyer of Worlds: Dethklok's blues concert summons tornadoes that blow the audience around, as well as make people suicidally depressed.
- No-Sell: The Blues Devil is the only person standing on his feet watching Dethklok's show while everyone else is blown away.
- Off with His Head!: Shorty Turnytop was run over by a train. While his head was traveling in the air, he wrote "Blues Train Blues."
- Prone to Sunburn: Pickles asks if anyone has any sunblock, since he's very Irish and sunburns easily. Mashed Potato Johnson tells him and the band a real blues man gets a sunburn.
- There's No Kill like Overkill: Blind Harlan Davenport was shot in the eye 52 times. During the concert, a hipppie is blown onto a tree branch and impaled, followed by a fat man landing on him.
- Til Murder Do Us Part: Blind Harlan Davenport killed his wife, buried her in a chicken coop, and wrote "Wife Gone on the Funeral Train Blues."
- Train Song: The running theme is that most blues songs are about trains. When Dethklok perform their first metal/blues concert, their song is "Murder Train A-Coming."
- Walking Shirtless Scene: The band takes their shirts off to deal with the oppressive southern heat. Toki's ripped physique is revealed for the first time.
