Two pilot episodes that premiered on the What A Cartoon! Show (though Meat Fuzzy Lumkins premiered as part of the World Premiere Toon-In special, simulcast across Cartoon Network, TBS and TNT, hosted by Space Ghost and judged by his villains).
Meat Fuzzy Lumkins: Upset that his meat jam lost in a jam judging contest, Fuzzy Lumpkins invents a gun that turns anything it zaps into meat and turns it on Townsville and its citizens.
Crime 101: Annoyed by the Amoeba Boys pestering them to take them seriously as bad guys with their Poke the Poodle antics, the Powerpuff Girls decide to teach them how to rob a bank, by doing it themselves. Little do they know, they would get themselves in big trouble...
Meat Fuzzy Lumkins contains examples of:
- Berserk Button: When Bubbles is seemingly taken down by Fuzzy's meat gun, it turns out that she's still alive... except that her right pigtail has been reduced to a chicken leg! This pisses her off so much that she massacres Fuzzy and gives him a taste of his own medicine by turning him into meat with his own gun.
- Bowdlerize: The pilot originally retained its original profane title of The Whoopass Girls, but at the last second, a network executive advised Cartoon Network head Mike Lazzo to change it to something more child-friendly, requiring all uses of the word "whoopass" to be re-recorded.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Fuzzy wants to convert everything into meat and eat it just because he lost a contest.
- Early Installment Character-Design Difference: The short's overall visual aesthetic is still at a halfway point between the classic Hanna-Barbera look and the show's flatter, heavily stylized one. The girls, Miss Keane and Fuzzy Lumpkins are all noticeably taller than they'd appear in the series proper; specifically, the girls resemble their appearance in the original Whoopass Stew short while Fuzzy Lumpkins is drawn with a more human-like build, as opposed to his more stout, spherical stature he'd later have.
- Early-Installment Weirdness
- While still a hillbilly stereotype, Fuzzy Lumpkins is seen here as a more calculating and articulate villain who plots his schemes, bordering on Southern-Fried Genius because of his Meat Gun, as opposed to the uncivilized hick who hulks out at the slightest provocation in the series proper.
- Bubbles is voiced by Kath Soucie instead of Tara Strong.
- The Mayor is straight-up a completely different character, both in appearance and personality, looking and sounding more like a '70s game show host than the Monopoly Guy parody he'd be in the series proper. He's also voiced by Jim Cummings instead of Tom Kenny.
- The late, great Ernie Anderson is the narrator here and in the following short; he died in 1997, resulting in Tom Kenny taking the role for the series proper.
- "Everybody Laughs" Ending: The episode ends with the girls laughing when the Mayor asks why Fuzzy's antennae are sticking out of his burger.
- Evil Is Petty: Fuzzy wreaks havoc across Townsville because he lost a jam contest.
- Forced Transformation: The Meat Gun turns anything it zaps into meat.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Bubbles shoots Fuzzy with his own Meat Gun.
- Inconsistent Spelling: The title of this short spells Fuzzy Lumpkins' name as Fuzzy Lumkins, without the P. This spelling would also happen in the credits of his earlier episodes up until Meet The Beat-Alls.
- It Tastes Like Feet: Buttercup complains about how Fuzzy’s meat jam tasted like dog food. Bubbles agrees with her.
- Karmic Death: After converting several buildings and people into meat and eating them, Fuzzy himself is turned into meat and eaten by the Mayor in a barbeque.
- Madness Mantra: Fuzzy chants to himself, "I'm not a loser", when Jam A gets the blue ribbon instead of his meat jam.
- Mood Whiplash: Bubbles' No-Holds-Barred Beatdown of Fuzzy briefly cuts to a scene of Fuzzy happily walking down the street, and Bubbles tripping him with a sly look on her face.
- Nobody Touches the Hair: Bubbles goes ballistic when Fuzzy turns one of her pigtails into meat.
- Oh, Crap!: Fuzzy seemed to realized he screwed up when he gave Bubbles "meat hair."Fuzzy Lumpkins: (sheepishly) It's... very becoming?
- There Was a Door: When the girls fly off to deal with Fuzzy, Ms. Keane gets annoyed when they fly through the ceiling of her classroom instead of using the door. Judging by her tone of voice, this has happened before.
- Unstoppable Rage: Bubbles screams and beats up Fuzzy all by herself after her pigtail is turned into meat.
Crime 101 contains examples of:
- Broken Pedestal: The citizens are heartbroken that the girls would actually rob a bank.
- Didn't Think This Through: The girls show the Amoeba Boys how to properly rob a bank, but didn't consider that they would get arrested for robbing a bank for real.
- Double Take: The judge assumes that the girls are innocent to the point that when they actually plead guilty, it takes a moment for him to realize this.
- Pet the Dog: The girls decide to help the Amoeba Boys commit an actual crime. When they clear their names, the girls decide to reward them by treating them as real criminals... by beating them up. Ironically, this is exactly what they want.
- Poke the Poodle: The best the Amoeba Boys can come up with is ignoring a "Keep Off the Grass" sign and jaywalking.
- Self-Restraint: The girls don't resist arrest and remain in their cuffs until the Amoeba Boys clear their names.
