Summary:

Yodonna has Numajo's mask and decides to play a little "game" with the Kiramagers to enact revenge on Tametomo. Meanwhile, Galza wants to test his powered-up Jamental, first by corrupting King Express!

Tropes:

  • Call-Back:
    • Yodonna uses Numajo's mask for her plan this episode.
    • Yodonna maliciously uses Tametomo's logic from #26 to make him suffer, only for it to backfire in the end when Tametomo and Shiguru outsmart her.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The billiards game from the beginning of the episode comes back to play later on, when Tametomo recreates a technique from it to destroy Numajo's mask.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Galza enacts this on Gigant Driller and Grateful Phoenix with his powered-up Jamental, coming extremely close to finally finishing off Oradin.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: During Yodonna's fight against Shiguru and Tametomo, the former was able to hold her own and even overpower Shiguru only for Tametomo's support to get several hits along with a Finishing Move and even then she was still capable of standing, but still needed Galza to save her.
  • Final Boss Preview: Juru draws a figure based on the voice he heard while fighting Galza, heavily implied to be Emperor Yodon himself.
  • Loophole Abuse: Essentially what Shiguru and Tametomo's plan boils down too. Since Shiguru is too weak to carry out attacks by himself, Tametomo instead decides to shoot at him, which then Shiguru deflects back at Numajo's mask. Because it was technically Shiguru's attack, the mask was destroyed.
  • Mood Whiplash: Not so much as the other times, but the ominous ending when Juru reveals his drawing for Emperor Yodon gets whiplashed by the comical stinger and cheerful Dancing Theme.
  • Morton's Fork: What Yodonna's plan using Numajo's venom boils down to: either Tametomo tires himself out trying to destroy a mask he can't destroy himself, or Shiguru weakens himself as he tries to destroy the mask while suffering from the venom's effects. Fortunately, the boys find a third option that nevertheless fulfills the conditions.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Galza would have succeeded in ending Juru and Oradin had Emperor Yodon not intervened.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: To the 1992 Yakuza film Bloody Passion (赤と黒の熱情/Aka to Kuro no Netsujō, "Red and Black Passion").
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The structure of this episode. Plot A has Shiguru and Tametomo dealing with Yodonna while Shiguru's been poisoned while Plot B has the rest of the team try and hold off a new powered-up Galza.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Yodonna has one when Tametomo and Shiguru were able to beat her game and then overpower her in a fight thanks to their teamwork. It then causes some sort of power to burst out of her, which forces Yodon to order Galza to rescue her.
  • Wham Episode: The sheer fact that Tametomo and Shiguru came this close to finishing off Yodonna for good. Also the fact that Garza hijacked King Express and came so close to finishing off Oradin and Juru. Not mention the fact that Emperor Yodon makes his presence known for the first time in the series.
