Foreshadowing: Hawkeye admits he's getting more and more exhausted, anticipating his crackup in "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" (which was written and filmed prior to the rest of Season 11).
The Ghost: We never see Nurse Carpenter in the flesh. She was like this to the rest of the camp too; she never really interacted with anyone and so no one really knew much about her except for Father Mulcahy.
It Will Never Catch On: Winchester has this thought about what will eventually become Hula Hoops and Frisbees, two children's toys that are still extremely popular today.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Nurse Carpenter didn't come across to most people as a friendly or sociable person; the most that Houlihan can say about her is that she was a good nurse, while the nurses mainly remember her for getting a big piece of fudge from home and only giving each nurse one piece. However, she felt strong feelings for Hawkeye and gave all the rest of the fudge to the patients in the hospital.
Mood Whiplash: The A plot: a nurse Hawkeye dated a few times dies and he's filled with Slut-Shaming-ish self-loathing. The B plot: Winchester and Klinger try to invent the hula hoop.
Pride: Winchester is previously ecstatic about the possibility of marketing hula hoops due to seeing how popular the Shmoo from Li'l Abner is, but after he tries (and fails horribly) to use one himself, and gets laughed at by children, he gets so bitter he rips the investment check up and refuses to try anything else.
