A French school student falls victim to an illegal experiment and is transformed into a moth-like creature. He soon seeks revenge on those who transformed him.
General Tropes:
- All Webbed Up: The Mothman can shoot silk from his mouth to ensnare his prey incredibly fast.
- Always Someone Better: It doesn't matter what Martin tries to do, Marvin outshines him in everything. Even at getting scars.
- Big Brother Instinct: Martin doesn't take too kindly to the Moth Man trying to eat his sister.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: The Mothman.
- Crying Wolf: Martin tricks Diana into thinking there's a bug on her so many times that she doesn’t believe him when he tries to warn her she’s about to walk into a cobweb. Cue one of the many instances of Diana getting Covered in Gunge in this episode.
- Evil Teacher\Evil Principal: What the teacher and dean ultimately turn out to be, as they mutated one of their own students into the Mothman For Science! They are arrested by the Center after their crime is exposed.
- For Science!: Why was the dean, Stella Odette, trying to create a human-moth hybrid? Apparently because she wanted to.
- I'm a Humanitarian: The Mothman tries to eat Diana when she's in his grasp.
- Humans Are the Real Monsters: Specifically, only two humans the Mothman abducts. They may seem like victims of a monster trying to kidnap them (and possibly eat them). But after Martin learns the truth about the Mothman, our heroes understand that the creature is but an innocent student named Bruce Phillips used as a guinea pig by his own teacher and dean. In reality, it's the aforementioned dean and teacher who are the monsters for turning him into the creature he is.
- Macabre Moth Motif: There are a lot of moths even before the Mothman appears.
- Sympathy for the Devil: Both Martin and Diana express sympathy towards the Mothman once he is subdued by Martin. Justified, as the Mothman is a victim that got exploited and mutated by his teacher and dean.
- Was Once a Man: Bruce Philips was turned into a humanoid moth against his will when he volunteered for an experiment.
