• Bad Job, Worse Uniform: Kelly's job is basically holding a sign advertising the bank in a bikini.
• Bittersweet Ending: In a perfect split, the men get a happy ending while the women get a bad ending. Bud scores with a hot German girl and gets a good job at the DMV. Al gets his driver license after a terrible day and gets a few more weeks away from Peg. Kelly loses two jobs in one day (though the second one was more Marcy's fault). Marcy gets demoted to chicken mascot.
• Department of Major Vexation: The DMV has almost no tests in English, gives licenses to everyone except Al, won't let people check in as walk-ins if they have an appointment even though the line is shorter, and apparently requires you to pass only the written test or the driving test.
• Double Entendre: Kelly gets barraged by them at her new job being told she has nice assets, asked if they can see her prime interest rate, and asked if there's a penalty for early withdrawal.
• Gilligan Cut: When Al and Bud pick up a hitchhiking girl who wants to go to the Octoberfest in Milwaukee, Al says there's no way he'll drive them all the way over there. The scene then immediately cuts to Al driving them back from there.
• Hypocritical Humor: The DMV says they take giving licenses very seriously. Another worker gives licenses to a child, a drunkard, and a blind man right in front of him.
  • Bud claims he took an oath to take his job seriously only to get distracted by a Hooters
• Irony: Kelly loses her job because she refused to wear a bikini, and her new one makes her do the same.
• Reassigned to Antarctica: Marcy gets demoted to a chicken mascot after losing the bank's biggest client.
• Refuge in Audacity: Offscreen Bud was stated to have told a lady cop to "Put 'em on the glass" and it's implied he didn't get ticketed or arrested.
• Threat Backfire: At the beginning of the episode, Bud asks Al for money to to Oktober Fest, but Al tells him get a job to pay for his own fun. After Al discovers that Peggy forgot to tell him about his expired driver's license notice, he goes to the DMV to renew it, and after failing the written exam, a teller says he can renew his license with the driven test, and the examiner is none-other than Bud, who plans to fail Al as payback for making him get a job in the first place, but not before making Al into his personal chauffeur and forcing him to drive to Oktober Fest. When they get back to the DMV Bud is getting ready to, happily, fail Al, but Al responds that failing the test means not going to work, since he needs a car to drive to the mall, and since he can't go to work, he'll always be home, and when Bud brings a date over, he'll be in his underwear. This causes a reluctant Bud to instead pass Al, and renew his driver's license.
