Recap / Married With Children S 8 E 26 Kelly Knows Something

Go To

  • Bittersweet Ending: Kelly misses out on the $10,000 grand prize, but she gets a new TV as one of her ConsolationPrizes. This was actually what Al was hoping to buy with his winnings when he applied for the show.
  • The Bore: Al originally auditioned for the show himself to buy a new TV with the money he'd win, but he's rejected when his massive knowledge of sports trivia shows the producers that he clearly has no life at all.
  • Consolation Prize: Kelly fails the final segment of the show where she could've won $10,000, but she gets several consolation prizes instead. One of them is a TV, which is what Al hoped to buy with his winnings when he auditioned for the show.
  • Continuity Nod: Bud explains how filling Kelly's brain will cause basic information to leave her head to make space.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: When Al auditions for the Touchdown Trivia game show, he has a mock episode with two other applicants. He utterly demolishes his rivals, only missing out on a women's golf question, which he doesn't consider a sport anyway.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Seeing as the 10 dollar TV lasted 20 years, Peg wasn't wrong it was a great deal.
  • Failure Is the Only Option: If the host hadn't told Kelly how to work the buzzer (her brain was full) she wouldn't have been able to buzz in, but by telling her she lost the fact she needed to win the $10,000. Notably, it was the one fact she knew before Al taught her all his sports knowledge, the fact that he scored four touchdowns in one game for Polk High that she forgot.
  • Get-Rich-Quick Scheme: Very downplayed. Al doesn't have the money to buy a new TV, so he auditions for Touchdown Trivia in the hopes of buying one with his winnings. He's not pulling a con or trying to get enough money to quit working, just trying to legally get some quick cash for something he wants.
  • Mr. Exposition: Jefferson tells both Al and the audience about the Touchdown Trivia game show when he learns that Al needs money for a new TV.
  • My Skull Runneth Over: Played for laughs when Kelly's brain becomes "full". She even has steam coming out of her ears when it's overheating.
