• Didn't Think This Through: Al didn't consider Jefferson getting a job there would make him the big hit thereby drawing attention from Al.
• Does This Remind You of Anything?: When Al goes to the bar to apply for the bartender job, he's visibly and genuinely upset and angry at the way the female owner blatantly leers at his crotch, snapping at her to knock it off, a reversal of what numerous women have endured in Real Life and on the show, usually from Al and his cronies.
• Downer Ending: The episode ends with Bud, Kelly, Al and Buck left out in the Chicago cold. They even have icicles hanging off of them.
• Jerkass Ball: Al cares more about his job at a topless bar that pays well and brings forth female attention than the fact that Bud and Kelly are sick with the flu.
• Karma Houdini: Peg of course, but also Seven. The former not only casts Bud and Kelly out in fear of getting Seven sick (although Bud only sneezed due to having a feather on his nose, but they ended up getting sick for real for being sent outside), but runs up unnecessary bills taking the boy to numerous doctors and took the money for the mortgage bill to pay for them. The latter, on the other hand, teases his older "siblings" for being sent outside due to Peg's overprotectiveness of him. Neither is punished for any of this.
• Laser-Guided Karma: Al in a sense. He is completely thoughtless regarding Bud and Kelly getting sick (to the point of the latter passing out from a high fever), but he ends up being fired from his new job, had the words "Go Home" written on his chest and sent out into the cold with his children and Buck.
• Mr. Fanservice: Jefferson who ends up taking over Al's job as a topless waiter due to being younger, better-looking and in much better shape.
