Recap / Mao Mao S 1 E 09 Outfoxed

Go To

Mao Mao and Badgerclops learn about "Takesgiving", a holiday where two thieving con artists, a fox named Rufus and a raccoon named Reggie come and take everyone's personal belongings. Mao Mao and Badgerclops set out to prove that the swindlers are up to no good.

This episode has examples of:

  • An Aesop: Mao Mao spends the episode trying to teach Adorabat that just because someone is being nice to you, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a good person.
  • Batman Gambit: Mao Mao pulls off a truly impressive one to expose Rufus and Reggie.
  • Broken Pedestal: Adorabat is finally convinced that Rufus and Reggie are bad guys even though they act nice. And then she turns on them hard.
  • Costumes Change Your Size: Mao Mao and Badgerclops disguise themselves as Adorabat and Reggie, respectively, both of which are less than half their size.
  • Engineered Public Confession: Mao Mao's plan is to trick Rufus into showing his true colors to Adorabat.
  • Eye Pop: Reggie's eyes bulge out of their sockets whenever Badgerclops squeezes him. He constantly complains of not being able to see.
  • Full-Body Disguise: Mao Mao and Badgerclops perfectly disguising themselves as characters that are much smaller than they are, as well as imitating their voices perfectly. Rufus is seriously unnerved by this.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Adorabat is so hurt by Rufus and Reggie’s treachery, she beats them with a chair and then proceeds to toss them into a sewer. This marks the first time Adorabat ever displays brute strength, totally surprising to Mao Mao and Badgerclops.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Rufus is so slick and charming - and the Sweetiepies are so gullible - that he's able to convince all of Pure Heart Valley that they are good guys and have them eating out of the palm of his hand. Not just that, he also convinces them easily to turn on Mao Mao because of how mean he comes off.
