A judge hires Magnum and Higgins to recover the evidence of her past with which she's being blackmailed.
Tropes:
- Always Someone Better: Maya tries to persuade Magnum and Higgins that they're out of their depth and pay them to back off. That very attempt gives them information that leads to who's hired her to blackmail the judge.
- Awesomeness by Analysis: Magnum feigns interest in Maya's bribe to find out how high she's willing to go, as he figures she won't go above ten per cent of what she's making on the job. Her final offer tells them how much that is, leading them to figure out who her client is.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Judge Rachel Parks came from a poor background and got through law school on a scholarship. Unfortunately, the scholarship fell through with just a few months left, so to make ends meet she briefly worked as an escort. Believing she'd put that chapter behind her, she went on to have a successful career, even being considered for the Supreme Court, only for a video made without her knowledge to resurface as blackmail material.
- Karma Houdini: After blackmailing a judge and perverting the course of justice in who knows how many other cases, Maya simply disappears without facing consequences.
- Noodle Incident: Magnum and Judge Rachel Park are already acquainted from an incident in which she had him held in contempt after he refused to reveal confidential information about a client. This time, it's that very commitment to his clients' privacy that makes her hire him. The irony does not go unremarked.
- Red Herring: Judge Parks initially believes the blackmail is related to her Supreme Court run. In fact, the blackmailer wants her to rule not guilty on a murder case she's presiding over, and the timing is just a coincidence.
- Villainous Respect: Maya calls Magnum after he and Higgins successfully recover the video. He assumes it's a We Will Meet Again call based on the ego she displayed earlier, but she merely congratulates him on a game well played. He's a little disgusted as he doesn't view people's lives as a game.
