• The Coup: Just as the Gundams launched their attack on the New Edwards Base, OZ begin their takeover of all Alliance bases in Operation Daybreak.
• False Flag Operation: Treize set up the Gundam pilots into killing the Alliance leaders, who were aiming for peace with the colonies. As a result, the Alliance - now firmly under the influence of OZ - declares war on the colonies.
• My God, What Have I Done?: The Gundam pilots, especially Heero, are shocked and horrified at being manipulated by OZ into killing the Alliance leaders and ruining any chance of peace between Earth and the colonies.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Heero: Heero ends up blowing up all the pro-reconciliation Earth Sphere leaders.
• 7th Episode Twist: The five Gundam pilots are finally gathered - just to learn that OZ was the real perpetrator the whole time. After they'd killed the only people who could have negotiated a way out.
• You Are Too Late: Wufei figured out OZ's plans, but he is too late to warn the other Gundam pilots.
• You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: General Septem is tricked by Lady Une on behalf of OZ to give a live speech (aboard a plane fleeing the attack of the New Edwards Base) condemning peace with the space colonies and reaffirming Earth's resolve to the war. After ending the broadcast, Lady Une calmly and politely informs the General that his "services were no longer required," immediately before opening a hatch under his seat. Then shooting him in the head on his way down.
