The episode opens by recounting how Mother found her way to Lucifer's apartment to ask for his help. He is initially dismissive of her, believing that she must have gone on a murder spree in the city. The two of them retrace her steps back to the hotel, only to find that the woman whose body Mother is now inhabiting wasn't the unknown murderer's only victim.
Tropes present in this episode include:
- Back from the Dead: Several people as Mother is trying to find a human body to host her spirit. The last one is Charlotte, a recently-murdered woman.
- Body Horror: Amenadiel wings start to moult indicating something is happening to his angelic self.
- Body Surf: Mother does that in order to find a human vessel.
- Brain Bleach: Lucifer reaches for it when he sees his mother naked.Lucifer: Traumatized for eternity now, so thank you very much for that.
- Failed Attempt at Drama: Linda attempts to storm out of Amenadiel's office after confronting him for lying about being a therapist. On the way out the door gets stuck on the carpet, forcing her to make several attempts to close it before kicking the rug out of the way.
- Fallen Angel: Amenadiel discovers that he's becoming one, much to his horror.
- Literal-Minded: Mother interprets "you're going to have to lose those clothes" as "get naked", much to Lucifer's dismay.
- Mistaken for Prostitute: A random passerby mistakes Lucifer's mother for a whore whe he sees her walking down the street and asks Lucifer how much for being next in line with her.Lucifer: (to his mother) This one you could kill.

Lucifer: (urgently, dragging her by the arm) I'm joking! I'm joking, mother! - Oh, Crap!:
- Amenadiel has a big one when he sees a feather falling next to him.
- He has an even bigger one when he sees that his wings are, for lack of a better word, molting.
- Psychotic Smirk: Mother gives one to the Heavens after she sort of reconciles with Lucifer.
