Dates Posted: (2007) January 26, 27, 29, 30, February 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 13, 14, 16

After Daniel goes out to pick up girls and doesn't return by the next day, Bree and Jonas get worried and go out searching for him. But they end finding a lot more than they bargained for...

"For The Ladies": Jonas states that Daniel is going to go back to the bar to try to pick up girls, and he films the very rough process of Daniel's preparation.

"Daniel's Missing!": Bree says that Daniel didn't come home last night, figuring somebody fell for his dumb lines, but says that he didn't call or anything, so she asks him to at least call or let them now where he is, even if he did decide to go home or stay somewhere else. She discusses how there relationship has been recently.

"Looking For Daniel": With still no contact from Daniel, Bree and Jonas go out to investigate his whereabouts.

"Sleepover": Bree and Jonas check into a hotel as they continue their journey for Daniel.

"The Cowboy": As they drive up to the cowboy's house, Jonas talks more about what the bartender told them about him. After some driving shots, Bree and Jonas are outside, watching the cowboy's house from afar. Jonas notes there's no sign of either him or Daniel. After watching the house for a bit, we cut to a white van parked at a rest stop parking lot. Bree explains that that's the guy's van, and they followed him here. Jonas gets out to investigate the van and despite a close call, turns up nothing.

Back at home, Jonas vents his frustration, wondering if they should call the police, but decides to just get some sleep.

"Miss Me?": A white Watcher symbol appears. It explodes to reveal Daniel sitting in front of a heavily saturated white background. With heavy distortion on his voice, Daniel proceeds to praise the Order and tell Bree she should totally do the Ceremony.

"Me For Daniel": A very somber Bree opens by saying she's spent the night trying to figure out another way, but decides that the Order is too powerful to fight and will give herself up to save Daniel.

"Storm The Castle": Sitting in his library, Jonas expresses disbelief that Bree is just laying down and giving up after everything the Order's done to her. He gives thoughts and theories on the situation to try to find another way.

"The Human Ransom": After some travel shots, we see Bree and Jonas chatting inside an office building. The elevator across from them opens and Lucy and three goons emerge, along with a blindfolded Daniel. Him and Bree embrace for a few moments. Lucy, Bree, and the goons go in the elevator, and the door starts closing. Just as it's about to close, Bree says "Wait, stop!" The footage from inside the office building quickly plays back in reverse.

Cut to a shot of a plane landing at an airfield. As it glides to a stop, the word "Tachyon" appears in the corner of the screen, and the picture freezes and cuts to black. After some more travel shots, we see a series of shots showing the scenes in the office building from different angles, apparently coming from cameras hidden by Tachyon. We then see a new shot from the office building, showing a flashbang being rolled into the elevator right before it closes. The flashbang detonates inside the elevator and the screen cuts to black, during which Bree yells for Daniel to run. It ends with Jonas, Daniel, and Bree racing up to the roof with Lucy in pursuit.

"Rescuing Daniel": Bree talks about everything that's happened over the past few days. She says that they got Daniel back and that he doesn't remember filming "Miss Me?" She talks about Tachyon and her backstory, as well as her partner Brother. She says Tachyon got in touch with her to work out the plan to rescue Daniel. She talks about how cool it was carrying out the plan. She talks about how nice it was having Tachyon and Brother stay with them for the weekend, and that Tachyon gave her an encrypted disk before she left. Bree finishes by saying that the reason she hasn't been doing much lately is that she's been so afraid of doing the wrong thing, but now that she's done something, she wants to do more.

"Drinking Problems": Daniel assures the viewers that he's okay and wonders what kind of stupid stuff he did in the bar that in the lead-up to him getting kidnapped, as he doesn't remember anything before his rescue. He berates himself a bit for how he's been dealing with things lately and goes into detail about his home life and how it influenced him.

"Valentine's Day Massacre": Jonas wishes everyone a happy Valentine's Day. He discusses what he's been thinking about the event of "The Human Ransom" and the state of the group. He says he's frustrated that they aren't taking action or forming any kind of plan, and talks about how Bree and Daniel are thinking. He then discusses the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and how it can relate to their situation.

"Watch This!": We see a Watcher has arrived in Jonas' driveway. Jonas goes out to confront him over Bree's protests.

Tropes:

  • And Here He Comes Now: Invoked by Bree in her sign-off in "Daniel's Missing!", although averted as seen in the next episode.
Bree: Anyway, Jonas said that right after I post this you're gonna call, and I'll feel really stupid for overreacting. We'll keep you posted. Bye.
  • Badass Boast: Jonas gives the Order a warning in "Valentine's Day Massacre":
Jonas: The next time the Order tries to hit us, I'm not flinching. In fact, I'm going to hit back twice as hard.
  • Blinded by the Light: Inflicted on Lucy and her goons by Tachyon's flashbang in "The Human Ransom", allowing Bree to escape from the elevator along with Daniel and Jonas.
  • Call-Back:
    • Bree's comment about deja vu in "Sleepover" is a reference to when her and Daniel were sleeping in motels when they first went on the run.
    • Bree's comment in "The Cowboy" that Jonas isn't Bruce Wayne is a reference to Jonas comparing himself to Bruce Wayne back in "Happy Thanksgiving".
    • Bree mentions in "Me For Daniel" that she's talked about the APHID acronym before, which was all the way back in "Survival Skills".
    • The title card after the flashbang goes into the elevator in "The Human Ransom" references Tachyon's atrocious bowling score from her video "Knock 'Em Down".
For a girl who scored 112 the last time she went bowling, that's an impressive shot!
  • Chopper on Standby: In "The Human Ransom", we can hear Brother's helicopter running up on the roof as Bree, Daniel, and Jonas run up to reach it.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Jonas in "The Cowboy" just happens to be saved from having to fight his way past the cowboy by some random guy yelling after him. Subverted because that "random guy" was actually Brother, who was presumably either following the cowboy or Bree and Jonas and realized what was about to happen.
  • Creepy Stalker Van: The cowboy drives an unmarked white van around, and apparently kidnaps people with it. Lampshaded by Daniel in "Drinking Problems".
Daniel: Why the hell did I leave with that cowboy and get into his Chester the Molester van?
  • Despair Event Horizon: After seeing how widespread the Order is, Bree decides the Order is simply too powerful to fight and decides to surrender herself for the Ceremony to save Daniel. Subverted when "The Human Ransom" shows that she was planning to fight back all along.
  • Distressed Dude: Daniel gets abducted by the Order to try to force Bree to agree to the Ceremony, but they manage to rescue him in "The Human Ransom".
  • Double-Meaning Title: "Watch This!" is a call for the viewer to "watch this" video and a dare to the Watchers to "Watch this!"
  • Drowning My Sorrows: In "Drinking Problems", Daniel berates himself for trying to do this in the days leading up to his kidnapping. He defies the trope at the end of the video, saying he's not going to be like his parents and that he's going to be there for the people he cares about.
  • Easily Forgiven: The Order in "Miss Me?" when Daniel says that he's friends with them now, apparently because they gave him pizza and ice cream.
  • Film the Hand: Lucy does this to Jonas' camera in "The Human Ransom" to block his shot during the exchange. Doesn't quite work thanks to the host of hidden cameras planted by Tachyon, however.
  • Friendless Background: In "For The Ladies", Jonas relates how he used to go to Pins & Pints to throw keggers for his "friends", but after he stopped doing that none of those people ever called him again.
  • Gilligan Cut: Bree tries to talk Jonas out of checking out the van in "The Cowboy":
Jonas: I'm just going to check out the van.
Bree: No! You're not Bruce Wayne, Jonas.
(cut to Jonas walking toward the van)
  • Go Through Me: "Watch This!": although Daniel's too far away for us to hear anything said, Bree runs in between Jonas and the Watcher as they fight, and the fight immediately ends. The Watcher doesn't even bother to give chase as they run back into the house.
  • Hostage Video: A bizarre variation with "Miss Me?". Daniel, the Order's hostage, is placed in front of the camera... and proceeds to talk enthusiastically about how awesome the Order is and how Bree should totally do the Ceremony.
  • Idiot Ball: Lampshaded by Bree in "Rescuing Daniel" regarding her ignorance of OpAphid's videos despite warnings from the viewers:
Bree: They use lots of codes because they're working together to investigate the Order, and a part of the Order called OpAphid. I feel like an idiot. I read through a bunch of your comments, and... seems that you've been trying to warn me about OpAphid for quite some time.
  • It's Probably Nothing: Bree gets a bizarre text ("no good") from Daniel in "Looking For Daniel", has no idea what it means, and can't get a hold of him... but "at least I know he's okay". Although her expression right after suggests she doesn't believe that.
  • Once More, with Clarity: From "The Human Ransom": the shots from inside the office building as seen through Tachyon's cameras, especially the shot of Bree and Daniel's embrace where we can see Bree whispering into Daniel's ear, likely to tell him what's about to happen.
  • Parental Neglect: Daniel goes into some length about this in "Drinking Problems", saying that the reason his parents were so neglectful was because of their alcoholism.
  • Precision F-Strike: The generally very clean-mouthed Bree says "Shit!" when she sees the cowboy closing in on Jonas in "The Cowboy".
  • Sdrawkcab Speech: As usual for OpAphid videos, "Miss Me?" ends with this. Put forwards, it says "Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune, but great minds rise above them," a quote from Washington Irving.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Three of them in "For The Ladies":
    • The "wall of Jonas" in "Sleepover" is a reference to the "wall of Jericho" from the movie It Happened One Night.
    • Though no longer visible, the last four tags of "Sleepover" are "motel hotel holiday inn", a reference to the song "Rapper's Delight" by The Sugarhill Gang.
    • Bree warns Jonas that he's not Bruce Wayne in "The Cowboy" when he's thinking about checking out the van.
  • Smash to Black: "Looking For Daniel" abruptly cuts to a black screen after a series of driving shots set to some moody music.
  • Storming the Castle: Invoked by Jonas in "Storm The Castle" suggesting this kind of tactic rather than just giving in to the Order. Averted, as a different tactic is used instead.
  • Suspicious Missed Messages: Neither Bree or Jonas can get ahold of Daniel in "Looking For Daniel" or "Sleepover", making them both very worried.
  • Take Me Instead: The entire purpose of "Me For Daniel" is Bree offering herself to the Order in exchange for Daniel's freedom. Subverted when it turns out it was part of a trap set up by Bree and Tachyon to double-cross the Order to save Daniel while keeping Bree free.
  • Terrible Pickup Lines: The pickup line Daniel tries out for Jonas in "For The Ladies":
Daniel: Baby, you must be from Pearl Harbor, 'cause you the bomb!
  • Theme Music Power-Up: Partway through "The Human Ransom", it seems like Bree really is giving herself up to the Order in exchange for Daniel, and then after her yell to stop and a shot of a random airplane landing, we hear Tachyon's theme song start up, and things start going much better for our heroes.
  • There Is Only One Bed: The only room the motel in "Sleepover" had has one bed in it. Bree and Jonas share some awkward conversation and looks about it. Jonas tries to make it work, but ends up sleeping in the tub.
  • Third-Person Person: Daniel refers to himself in the third-person a couple times in "Miss Me?", and both times it's pretty disturbing especially given the audio overlay over the first line.
    Daniel: We have Daniel.
Daniel: Listen to your friend Daniel.
  • Title Drop: "Me For Daniel" ends on this.
Bree: Just, I wanna get it over with. Straight up trade. Me for Daniel.
  • Totally Radical: A lot of what Daniel says in "Miss Me?" intentionally falls under this, like "Yo, what up, Bree, it's me, Danny B", "mad love", or "ain't no thang".
  • White Void Room: The room Daniel is filmed in during "Miss Me?"
  • Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Regarding the Valentine's Day Massacre, Jonas says that Capone's gangsters disguised themselves as cops, who weren't seen as a threat by the gangsters of the day, which is what allowed them to take out Maron's guys.

"I finally did something, and not only did it work, it was so much easier than I thought. I think that...I know what I want to be when I grow up."
