As Russell, Vinnie, and Sunil are watching the Insect Channel, a commercial comes on for the Downtown City renaissance fair, advertising various features, such as the Royal Henry, a tofu turkey leg, which Sunil and Vinnie drool for. Russell laments that although he really wants to go, the fair probably doesn't welcome pets. However, the announcer says that this year, they ARE welcoming pets! Excited, Russell gets ready to convince Blythe to take the three of them.

On Blythe's scooter, Blythe, Youngmee, Russell, Vinnie, and Sunil ride toward the fair, despite Youngmee's inexplicable fear of jester hats. Russell immediately fantasizes himself in a medieval setting as Sir Hedge, having rescued the maiden Penny Ling from a dragon. Riding alongside him are Duke of Sunil, and Baron von Vincent. As he's doing this, Vinnie and Sunil talk about eating a Royal Henry.

Once they arrive, dressed in medieval garb, they attempt to enter, however, a pair of knights blocks their path, and the gatekeeper tells them that pets are not allowed inside the fair, and that all pets are to be kept in Ye Olde Pet Zone, a designated pet area. Inside, Russell, Vinnie, and Sunil complain at the setting, when a dog named Shakespeare, who calls himself the resident actor in the realm, introduces himself and talks of his acting exploits. Vinnie notices a concession stand in the Pet Zone and makes his way toward it. Meanwhile, Blythe and Youngmee attempt to take a selfie of themselves at the park, but a knight confiscates the phone. Blythe and Youngmee try to get the phone back, but are told by the knight that "magical instruments of Merlin are not permitted in this kingdom." They promise not to use it and they get the phone back.

At Ye Olde Kibble Stand, Vinnie asks if the name is just for effect, but the dog running the stand says the kibble is just really old, so Vinnie declines. As the pets realize that they have to wait for Blythe to bring them back Royal Henries, Russell is determined to enter the fair. The three of them attempt to sneak into the fair by entering the gap in the fence. Russell imagines himself as Sir Hedge leaping the castle wall. The three pets smell a Royal Henry and make off toward it.Youngmee throws a wet sponge at a person in a target game, saying if she keeps herself busy she doesn't have to worry about jester hats, but says it's time for her to conquer her fear. As they head to the medieval garb booth, minstrels play on stage, and Blythe notices that the lute player in green tights looks like Josh Sharp, but shrugs the notion off.

Sunil, Vinnie, and Russell find a Royal Henry stand, but find out it's closed. They roam around the fair looking for an open one, but every one they find is closed. As Sunil comments that they're at least not in the Pet Zone, a knight finds them and brings them back. Suddenly from behind the bushes, Shivers the squirrel appears, who has information on Royal Henrys, but wants to keep secret because Lord Twig's scouts may be listening. They follow him. Meanwhile, Youngmee says that the soothsayer says that a big surprise is coming, when coming on the street is Josh Sharp. Embarrassed, Blythe tries to hide so he doesn't see her dressed how she is.

Shivers explains how every year he looks forward to the renaissance fair, but now a beaver named Lord Twig rules the pets at the fair, who sits on his throne of sticks, forcing pets to bring him Royal Henries. Russell declares that he and the "knights of the round pet dish" must stop Lord Twig and the pets be freed.Meanwhile, Blythe, running away, doesn't want Josh to see her in her outfit, but Youngmee points out that Josh is taking part in the fair and the costume as well, and Blythe becomes more comfortable with it.

Russell and the others arrive at the throne of twigs and are greeted by two frog guards. Russell demands to see the king and says he is here to release his grip on the pets of the park. Inside the twig throne room, Lord Twig is eating a Royal Henry, angry that visitors have arrived as he's eating. Ecstatic at the sight of the food, Vinnie asks for a bite, and Lord Twig gets angry, saying this is why he doesn't like visitors. Russell demands the Royal Henries returned, and Lord Twig commands the guards to kick Russell and the others out. Defeated, the Vinnie and Sunil resign themselves to the idea of waiting for Blythe and maybe getting a smoothie, but Russell doesn't give up yet. Meanwhile, talking with Blythe, Josh talks about how renaissance fair fairs are a guilty pleasures of his, with Blythe saying she knows what it's like to have a secret side. They go off to get Royal Henries.

Russell and the others return to the throne of sticks, surprising the guards and tackling them. Lord Twig is eating when Russell and the others enter, and Russell rolls into the throne, where all the Royal Henries are being hidden, releasing them all and destroying the throne. Lord Twig is defeated, and the pets are freed. Sunil says what Russell did was very brave, and also very dangerous. This word makes Russell become uncomfortable and he faints, realizing what he did was dangerous. The PA announces that the fair is closing in 10 minutes, so Russell, Sunil, and Vinnie rush back to the Pet Zone, with Vinnie bringing a pile of Royal Henries.

Youngmee declares that it seems that she's conquered her fear of jester hats, even putting one on. Blythe comments that she loved the fair, not only for its costume designs, but also how she got to see Josh in a new light and doesn't feel nervous around him anymore. They return to the Pet Zone, Blythe saying she doesn't have any Royal Henries for them, they were all sold out. Vinnie, bloated and fat, says not to worry. They leave, Sunil rolling Vinnie, as Shivers says goodbye to Sir Hedge of Russellton, confusing Blythe.

Tropes:

  • Absurd Phobia: Youngmee has a fear of jester hats at the beginning.
  • Adipose Rex: Lord Twig.
  • Balloon Belly: Vinnie gets this when he finally gets his hands on some Royal Henries.
  • Carnivore Confusion: Averted actually. If you listen to the announcer he calls the Royal Henry a tofu turkey leg.
  • Growling Gut: Vinnie gets this throughout the episode, his stomach growls nine times due to skipping lunch.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Shivers repeatedly tells Russell not to mentions Lord Twigg's name, right after he himself mentions his name.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: During the cold open, Russell sadly says they probably don't welcome pets at the Renaissance Fair, just before the announcer mentions that they now welcome pets.
  • Ironic Name: Lord Twig is far from a twig.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Lord Twig talks like Marlon Brando.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The episode title is a reference to Game of Thrones.
    • The episode also has a few references to Monty Python and the Holy Grail:
      • The guards at the renaissance fair resemble the Black Knight.
      • Russell shouting "Ha-ha!" like Lancelot upon escaping Ye Olde Pet Zone.
      • Shivers hits two acorn shells together to make the sound of a horse trotting while Russell pretends to ride a horse. The movie used coconuts.
