Recap / Little Princess S 2 E 17 I Want To Be A Baby

Go To

The Princess and Puss are up a tree blocking their ears and cringing due to a loud wailing noise coming from the castle. She explains that they have to look after her cousin, but he is "too noisy" with his crying so it is no fun. The Maid then calls the Princess in to play with him.

When the Princess enters, the baby is having his diaper changed, and then he cheers up but the Princess is still in a grumpy mood. The Queen sets the cousin on his play mat and leaves the two children to play. The baby initially wants to play with Gilbert, but the Princess disallows it, so he crawls over to the bugle and starts playing it. The Princess swipes it due to it belonging to the General, who wouldn't want it full of his saliva. Unfortunately, the Queen enters and sees the Princess with the bugle, assumes she's the one who played it, and scolds her for being too loud. Then, the General collects his bugle and is disgusted at the drool.

At lunch time, the baby plays with his mashed potato and the Princess joins in, but gets scolded by the Chef. The Princess is irate that her cousin wasn't also scolded, but the Chef and Maid point out that he is a baby and "that's what babies do". Adding insult to injury, the baby sends his whole plate flying onto the Princess's head, and the Chef and Maid laugh.

After lunch, the Princess sulks in her room about her cousin "getting her into trouble", while the King, Queen, and Maid play peekaboo with the baby outside. The Princess complains that her cousin is allowed to do things she isn't, and thus "has all the fun".

When she wonders why, the narrator suggests that it's because he's a baby, so the Princess goes outside wearing a bonnet, sucking a pacifier, and speaking gibberish. The narrator asks what she's doing, and she replies that she's "practising" being a baby because "babies have more fun". She drops down on all fours and crawls up to her parents and the Maid, pretending to cry. They initially think she "bumped her head", but then she explains that she's being a baby.

The General and Prime Minister show up, and the former plays with the baby, throwing him in the air. The Princess wants to have a go too, but she's too heavy to be thrown very high. Then, at dinner, the`Princess is served insipid green mash. She wants cupcakes, but isn't allowed them, and after dinner the Princess and her cousin get bathed and, much to her annoyance, put to bed despite it being far from bedtime.

Auntie comes to collect the baby, and the Princess, thinking she is finally out of the woods, sneaks downstairs and tries to go outside but is dragged to bed anyway.
