Recap / Little Princess S 1 E 2 I Dont Want Help

Go To

Early one morning, the Maid wakes up the Princess, dresses her, and combs her hair. The Princess seems a bit grumpy, but perks up when the narrator compliments her.

Later, at lunch time, the Maid cuts the Princess's steak for her. The narrator says that it must be lovely getting so much help, but the Princess grumpily asks him if he gets help with things such as opening doors, wiping his nose, and choosing his dresses. The narrator says no to all those things, but then adds that he's not a princess. When the Maid offers the Princess some toilet paper and empties her potty for her, she feels this is the last straw and angrily declares she doesn't want any more help.

In her bedroom, the Princess says defiantly to the Maid that she can do things on her own. The Maid asks if specific things are exceptions by miming them and humming, but the Princess puts her foot down. The King and Queen decide that the Princess will not have anymore help unless she asks for it, disappointing the Maid. She tells the Prime Minister (who tells the Admiral and General) and then the Princess herself.

The next morning, the Princess puts on her dress (successfully, but with a bit of a struggle) and declares that it's "just the three of [them]"— herself, and the pets. She then amends this to add Gilbert.

In the hallway, Scruff needs to pee, so the Princess tries to let him out by climbing on him and using Puss to reach, but it doesn't work, so she tells him, "Go out the back." Later, she feeds both pets banana but Puss doesn't want his. In the garden, the pets are very thirsty and the Princess tries to water them but can't turn on the tap so Scruff drinks from the pond instead and Puss drinks from a glass.

She then explains to the narrator that so far, not having help has been easy— at dinner the previous night she ate her steak whole, she recently came up with using an umbrella to open the door, and she can get her kite out of a tree by herself.

That night, the Princess brushes her teeth, only to find a spider, and she's arachnophobic. She tries getting the pets to scare them away, but Scruff is arachnophobic too and Puss isn't interested. She screams, attracting the attention of the Prime Minister, General, Chef, and Maid, and then the Princess admits that she needs help then.

That night, at bedtime, the Queen says that the Princess needs help with some things, but not others. The Princess then asks for help with her bedtime story and being tucked in. Then, the Maid and General get rid of the spider.

    • Later, we see that same rooster, crowing the next morning. Played for Laughs as he then falls out of the tree.

  • Thirsty Desert: When Scruff is thirsty, he imagines himself in a desert, the implication being that thirst reminds him of deserts.
  • Toilet Humour:

    • At one point, the Princess walks along with toilet paper trailing out from behind her.
  • Wearing It All Wrong: When the Princess is searching in her closet, a pair of undies ends up on Scruff's head.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Discussed when the Princess wonders if the narrator wears dresses.
