Tropes associated with this episode:

  • Character Development: Peter goes from a bratty kid who causes trouble to cope with his father's absence to a much warmer, responsible boy thanks to the attention and guidance Charles gives him. Later his fahter, after seeing what Charles managed to do to his son and a quick lecture from him on how children need parental attention, he makes amends with his son and decides to pull off his next business meeting to spend the next few days with his son in quality time.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Peter. His father doesn't pay much attention and he takes out his frustration through misbehaviour.
  • Missing Mom: Peter's mother is deceased, so he only has his distant father, who is often busy with his work, and his grandmother, who doesn't particularly help him with his behavior.
  • Parental Neglect: Peter's father barely pays attention to him, and that's implied to fuel his bad behaviour.
  • Parental Substitute: Harriet and Nels' nephew Peter forms a bond with Charles after the latter takes him under his wing, even referring to him as "Uncle Charles".
  • Spoiled Brat: Peter at first.
