"Slugger" is the thirty-seventh episodenote  of Lilo & Stitch: The Series. It first aired on January 26, 2004.

After Lilo loses a baseball game against Mertle, the former claims that she can beat the latter in another game, and they make a bet. Lilo then finds an experiment that can deflect anything thrown at it with its tail and recruits him to her team.

Tropes featured in this episode include:

  • Baseball Episode: It involves Lilo and her team of aliens playing baseball against Mertle's team. This gets turned on its head in the third act.
  • Loophole Abuse: Mertle uses this against Lilo to switch up the conditions of their next game down to being a different sport by pointing out the latter girl's claims that she could beat Mertle "any time, any place, any game." Lilo tries to claim that she didn't say that in order to try to keep the original conditions, but Stitch quickly looks into his memory archives and, unfortunately for her, confirms that she did say those words.
  • Hidden Depths: Nobody would've guessed that Pleakley is very skilled at basketball. Justified, as the game is similar to one he was a professional at on his home planet called Priznolaprack.
  • Super-Strength: Surprisingly, Slugger has this ability as he removes a basketball pole from the ground and bats away Gantu with the backboard. It does indirectly explain how he can hit projectiles so hard and so far, though.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Slugger may be good at baseball, but when Gantu challenges them to basketball, the experiment isn't nearly as good when all he can do is bat the ball.
