- Eggman's line "I hate that hedgehog!" is a reference to Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
- The last line "We need an explanation for the next game," is a reference to a plot hole in Sonic Adventure 2, where a newspaper said the mayor gave Tails a Chaos Emerald despite there being no opportunity in the game to do so.
