Tropes

  • Hostage Situation: Eddie Sandow holds his girlfriend Jess Whitley and her daughter Lily hostage in their apartment.
  • How We Got Here: The cold open begins with a hostage situation with an unknown perp. The rest of the episode tells the story leading up to the hostage situation and its eventual resolution.
  • I Love the Dead: The man caught assaulting Mallory Jenner completely sincerely says that he thought she was dead. Cabot double-checks with her bosses to confirm that this is not a valid excuse.
  • Refuge in Audacity: A man caught humping an unconscious Mallory Jenner tells the police: "I'm sorry! I thought she was dead!" Cabot even double-checks with her bosses because of how bizarre his claim is.
    • When visiting the office of Mr. Sandow, Amaro claims that he heard someone inside call for help and busts through the door. EADA Cutter and Cragen call him out on this later since nobody else heard it. Amaro all but admits that he took the risk...and it has clearly paid off.
  • The Loins Sleep Tonight: When the SVU were going over the drugs in the pervert of the week's dresser, they find, among other things, anti-ED medication, suggesting that despite his proclivities for rape, the suspect has difficulty "getting it up".
  • Visual Innuendo: Burt Sandow makes a point to have his audiotionees/victims hold a large crystal trophy of his that has a phallic shape.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Fin and Rollins' expressions when the perp says he thought the victim was dead say it all.
