The case against a woman who murdered another woman she was surrogating for faces significant difficulty when not only does her lawyer use her extremely traumatic background to try and elicit sympathy from the jury but she also holds the baby hostage from the deceased's husband.
- Bittersweet Ending: Darina is convicted of murder and sent to prison, however, it remains ambiguous as to whether or not her victim's husband will be able to claim their baby.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Even though his adoption scam played a large part in why the crime was committed, Pavlo Golub is not seen facing any punishment. Granted, Baxter implies that he wants to prosecute, so it's possible he was dealt with offscreen.
