Written by Michael S Chernuchin & Michael Duggan

After the murder case against mob boss Frank Mansucci is thrown out, Stone turns on the heat on witnesses who played him in order to find charges that will still stick. Double jeopardy does not allow Stone to prosecute for the murder og the trucker's union, so he goes for kidnapping. Mansucci's brother-in-law appears ready to testify against the mob boss until he goes missing. In the end, Mansucci is murdered by his own sister, who knew he could have her killed.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Asshole Victim: Frank Mansucci is murdered. Neither the detectives nor anybody in the DA's office cry about it.
  • Best Served Cold: Referenced. After being humiliated in court by Masucci, Stone goes to great lengths to put him away. When Robinette calls Stone for seemingly focusing more on payback than justice, this exchange results:
Stone: You know, the Russians say revenge is the sweetest passion.
Robinette: Yeah. And the Sicilians say it's a meal that's best served cold.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Frank outright put a successful hit out on his brother-in-law for daring to raise a hand against him, showing a swift willingness to kill anyone that gets in his criminal ways. His own sister bails him out of holding with a million dollars (likely in the family mob money) and then subsequently has him whacked, entirely in terror at realizing he'd ice her too if he wanted.
  • Opening Scroll: Replacing the usual Opening Monologue of each episode because this one is the second part of a two-parter and the authors want to set up what happened in the last episode. The scroll reads:
Occasionally, the criminal justice system can be twisted and manipulated by the very people it's meant to punish. This is one of those cases. What started as an assault on a Russian candy store owner mushroomed into an investigation of Manhattan's most powerful crime family. These are some of the players:
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Mansucci and his wife had a child who was hit by a truck and died. The truck driver himself died in what appeared to be an accident two months later.
