The detectives investigate the poisoning case of a woman that leaves her in a coma. Suspicion initially turns to her husband (John Slattery), but eventually turns to her daughter, whose would stand to benefit if her mother died.
Tropes present in this episode:
- Always Murder: Well, technically attempted murder in this case.
- Downer Ending: The treatment fails, making it unlikely that the victim will ever regain consciousness
- Dude, She's Like in a Coma: What Mr. Moore and the other people in his group are into sexually.
- Polyamory: Mr. Moore and company again
- Never the Obvious Suspect: Mr. Moore didn't do it.
- Never Suicide: Moore initially claims he helped his wife attempt suicide to cover-up their unusual sexual habits.
- Very Loosely Based on a True Story: Appears to be loosely based on the Claus von Bülow case. Incidentally, this isn't the first episode based on that case.
