Season One, Episode Four: The Faithful
Written by Stephanie SenguptaDirected by Constantine Makris
Airdate: October 17, 2001
When a Catholic church sexton is found viciously stabbed to death in the sanctuary, Detectives Goren and Eames hunt for their prime suspect, a young man with several drug and theft-related priors, but their investigation turns far more difficult when it turns out that the victim may have been skimming from the church's funds—and diverting them to their suspect.
- Double Standard: Rape, Male on Male: Eames is utterly pissed when she learns that Father Michael's attorney intends on using the battered-wife defense for his murder of Kevin Donovan, stating that Michael was in a completely different position as a man and therefore has no good reason to use that defense. It turns out that Michael wasn't in a romantic or sexual relationship with Kevin (who turns out to have been his son), but keep in mind that Father Michael was in fact sent to the hospital multiple times with horrific injuries courtesy of Kevin.
