The docs train a big dog to go after Lamput. They have just finished the training and send the dog to go find him when the dog spots a strange orange female dog and falls in love with it.
"Doc Dog" contains the following tropes:
- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: One of the other dogs that falls in love with Lamput at the end of the episode is wearing glasses.
- Alliterative Title: "Doc Dog" repeats the letter "D".
- Attractive Bent Species: The dog falls in love with Lamput after he transforms into a female dog.
- Cherry Blossoms: The dog follows Lamput to what appears to be a cherry blossom tree after falling in love with "her", shaking a few petals off the cherry blossom when he leans on it to get a look at him.
- The Dog Bites Back: Quite literally. After the docs attempt to distract the dog from Lamput, the dog gets mad at them and chases after them, with some pained leaps from the docs implying that the dog is biting them.
- Exit, Pursued by a Bear: The episode has the docs running away from their own dog after he gets mad at them, several seconds before the episode ends.
- Interspecies Romance: The dog falls in love with Lamput the Blob Monster not realizing he's not actually a dog or female. Several other dogs fall in love with "her" at the end of the episode.
- Mailman vs. Dog: Defied. The docs show the dog pictures of various things a dog would be expected to bark at, but the dog only barks at Lamput. One of the other pictures is of a mailman.
- Stealth Hi/Bye: Lamput throws a bone to distract the dog, and the dog almost immediately reappears in front of him with the bone in his mouth despite having run behind Lamput.
- Stock Femur Bone: Lamput grabs a femur bone from a trash bin and throws it behind himself to distract the dog. It doesn't work for long.
- Training Montage: The episode begins with the dog getting long training from the docs to recognize Lamput and exercise.
