Pilot

  1. The Way of the Tiger, The Sign of the Dragon: In the 1800's, the orphaned half-white, half-Chinese Kwai Chang Caine is raised in the Shaolin Temple. One day, the Emperor's nephew murders his beloved teacher, so Caine kills him in revenge. The Emperor sentences him to death, so Caine flees China and travels to the American Wild West, deciding to help people while evading the Emperor's bounty hunters.

Season 1

  1. King of the Mountain: Caine works as a ranch hand for a widowed woman and starts to fall in love with her, but a bounty hunter finds him.
  2. Dark Angel: Caine helps the blinded preacher, Serenity Johnson, learn to function without sight. Serenity returns the favor by helping Caine reconcile with his estranged grandfather. Caine learns he has a half-brother named Danny and decides to try to find him.
  3. Blood Brother: Caine learns a friend of his from the Shaolin Temple is also in America. He travels to his town, but finds him missing and the townsfolk attempt to stop his investigation.
  4. An Eye for an Eye: A family wants revenge on the solider who raped and impregnated their daughter, while Caine desperately tries to stop the cycle of violence.
  5. The Soul is the Warrior: Caine comes to a ranch where Danny once worked, but must confront the owner who is angry over the death of his son.
  6. Nine Lives: When a mining camp's cat mascot is killed, Caine and a prospector try to find a new cat, but end up trapped in a rapidly filling well.
  7. The Tide: A Chinese woman helps Caine and he starts to fall in love with her. Little does he know that she plans to deliver him back to China for the bounty and to persuade the Emperor to release her father from prison. Meanwhile, a corrupt sheriff tries to capture Caine solely for the bounty.
  8. Sun and Cloud Shadow: Caine helps broker a settlement between a landowner and Chinese miners. Meanwhile, the landowner's son falls in love with a girl named Cloud Shadow and a karate master tries to claim the bounty on Caine.
  9. The Praying Mantis Kills: Bank robbers seek revenge on Caine after he identifies them to a sheriff. Meanwhile, a boy who is obsessed with becoming a real man finds his beliefs challenged when he witnesses Caine's quiet strength.
  10. Alethea: Caine befriends a little girl named Alethea, but her mistaken testimony leads to him being accused of murder.
  11. Chains: Caine is arrested and shackled to a hulking brute. They escape and run through the wilderness together. While chased by an army sergeant who wants Caine's bounty, Caine tries to get to the root of his comrade's anger and find out what he knows about Danny.
  12. Superstition: Caine is arrested and sentenced to work in a silver mine. The others in the mine believe the site is cursed.
  13. The Stone: Caine is impressed by and believes he's found a kindred spirit in Isaac Montola, a master of Capoeira, a fighting style he's never seen before. Unfortunately, Isaac turns murderous when he thinks his diamond has been stolen. Meanwhile, after seeing Caine's skills, some boys try to hire him to kill a man who jilted their mother.
  14. The Third Man: Caine investigates when a gambler he befriended is murdered, while the gambler's widow becomes paranoid.
  15. The Ancient Warrior: Caine helps an old Indian named Ancient Warrior to travel to his ancestral home to eventually be buried there. Unfortunately, his ancestral home has been replaced by a violent, Indian-hating town called Purgatory.

Season 2

  1. The Well: During a drought, Caine drinks bad water and recovers in the home of the Brown family. The family has a working well, but the father, Caleb, is bitter over being a former slave and refuses to share the water with his thirsty neighbors.
  2. The Assassin: Caine stumbles upon Feuding Families with a pair of Star-Crossed Lovers between them. One of the families hires a ninja and Caine must stop him, despite being mistaken for the ninja's accomplice.
  3. The Chalice: Caine promises to recover a chalice stolen from a murdered priest.
  4. The Brujo: Caine attempts to liberate a Mexican village that lives in fear of a warlock's curses.
  5. The Spirit Helper: Nashebo, an Indian boy, performs a ritual to summon a spirit helper to help him get revenge on the men who killed his father and kidnapped his mother. As he finishes the ritual, Caine walks up, so he believes Caine is his spirit helper and conscripts him into his mission.
  6. The Squawman: Caine befriends a man who is not welcome in town because of his Indian wife. The man kills a criminal and is treated as a hero, but gets overzealous and kills an innocent, then the criminal's father and gang seeks revenge.
  7. The Salamander: Caine befriends a boy who fears he will develop a mental illness like his mother did. Meanwhile, a claim jumper preys on the town.
  8. The Tong: A child slave flees and is given shelter by Caine and a missionary. Caine must intervene when local Chinese crime lords demand the boy be returned to them.
  9. The Soldier: A soldier who cannot bring himself to kill anyone captures Caine, determined to prove he isn't a coward.
  10. The Hoots: Caine meets a group of Hutterites, who are pacifists and refuse to fight back even when attacked by bigoted cattlemen. Caine teaches them how to defend themselves without compromising their principles.
  11. The Elixir: After Caine defends two medicine hawkers from a hostile crowd, the woman falls in love with him, causing her male partner to be jealous.
  12. The Gunman: A gunfighter saves Caine and a rancher's widow from an attacker, which leads to him being pursued by a posse and a bounty hunter.
  13. Empty Pages of a Dead Book: The son of a deceased Texas Ranger tries to honor his memory by going after criminals his father kept a journal on. He finds more trouble than he expected and Caine must defend him.
  14. A Dream Within a Dream: Shortly after finding a dead body hanging in a marsh, Caine is shot. He recovers to find the body gone and the town on edge.
  15. The Way of Violence Has No Mind: Caine meets a Chinese immigrant gang that has turned to banditry.
  16. In Uncertain Bondage: Caine and a Southern Belle are imprisoned in a deep pit by kidnappers.
  17. Night of the Owls, Day of the Doves: Caine must defend prostitutes that want to start a new life with land bequeathed to them from cattlemen that want to seize it for themselves. Caine also discovers the Shaolin Temple had wronged one of the prostitutes and tries to make amends.
  18. Crossties: Caine tries to mediate a land-rights argument between railroad agents and farmers.
  19. The Passion of Chen Yi: Upon discovering a former Shaolin student in prison, Caine deliberately gets himself arrested so he can be put in prison with him, clear up an old misunderstanding, and help him.
  20. The Arrogant Dragon: The Tong order a man to either commit suicide or be executed by them. Caine helps him fake his death to be free.
  21. The Nature of Evil: A murderer holds the town of Nineveh in the grip of fear, so Caine and Serenity Johnson try to stop him.
  22. The Cenotaph Part 1: Caine travels with a mountain man named Logan who just hijacked a gold-carrying stagecoach in order to transport a box that he claims is his wife's coffin to a burial ground. While fending off robbers who want the gold, Caine flashes back to a time he battled a warlord for a woman's heart.
  23. The Cenotaph Part 2: Caine finishes his adventure with Logan and his flashback.

Season 3

  1. Cry of the Night Beast: Caine protects a buffalo calf who has been separated from its mother from a hunter.
  2. My Brother, My Executioner: Caine thinks he has found his brother, but he is really an imposter who is being pursued by a young gunfighter.
  3. This Valley of Terror: Caine meets a woman who has escaped from an asylum and claims to see visions of the future. He recognizes her affliction as true visions and accompanies her on a quest to discover the source of her torment.
  4. A Small Beheading: A sea captain delivers a message to Caine from the Emperor. His death sentence will be lifted and he can return to China... if he agrees to lose a finger.
  5. The Predators: Caine is accused of murder and must seek out a witness who is a member of a gang of Indian scalphunters, who doesn't want to help him. He must also deal with an Apache warrior who wants to kill the witness for his crimes against the Apache.
  6. The Vanishing Image: Caine seeks a photographer who took a picture of Danny, hoping he'll know where he is. An Indian wants to kill the photographer for taking his picture, because he thinks the camera stole his soul.
  7. Blood of the Dragon Part 1: Caine discovers his grandfather had been murdered and investigates while three Chinese assassins seek revenge for the Emperor's nephew. His grandfather's former lover is hostile to him and stifles his investigation.
  8. Blood of the Dragon Part 2: Caine continues to deal with the assassins and his grandfather's former lover.
  9. The Demon God: Back when Caine was a child, a spoiled member of the Royal Family poisoned him just to study his reactions. While his teacher tries to rescue him, the young Caine experiences visions of his future in the Wild West.
  10. The Devil's Champion: Back in Caine's days in China, a man threatens to kill people unless Caine's teacher faces him in combat to the death. Suspecting an evil entity is behind the man's actions, Caine and the man's sister are sent to stop it.
  11. The Garments of Rage: Caine must stop a renegade Shaolin priest who is terrorizing a railroad company for the death of his nephew.
  12. Besieged Part 1: Death on Cold Mountain: Back in Caine's days in China, a woman named Nan Chi wanted to join the Shaolin Temple and become a priest despite women not being allowed. It turns out she is on the run from a warlord who wants her hand in marriage.
  13. Besieged Part 2: Cannon at the Gates: Caine and Nan Chi start to fall in love, but the warlord arrives and threatens to destroy the Shaolin Temple with cannons unless she is turned over.
  14. A Lamb to the Slaughter: Caine meets the son of a man who had helped his father, who asks Caine to teach him how to fight in order to stand up to bandits terrorizing his village.
  15. One Step to Darkness: Caine tries to help a woman with a drug addiction, but must face his own inner demon.
  16. The Thief of Chendo: Back when Caine was a child, he had an adventure with a thief and princess who fall in love.
  17. Battle Hymn: After a bounty hunter dies while pursuing Caine, Caine buries him and seeks to return his belongings to his widow. He meets two traveling musicians and finds that they, the widow, and a sheriff all seek a cave with a silver mine in it.
  18. The Forbidden Kingdom: Back when Caine killed the Emperor's nephew, he had at first tried to flee to Tibet, but a woman betrayed him to the authorities, hoping to exchange him for her brother in prison.
  19. The Last Raid: Caine visits the Brown family (from "The Well") again, but finds that their son and his friend have been kidnapped by a Confederate soldier who doesn't believe the Civil War is over.
  20. Ambush: Serenity Johnson asks Caine to help escort him with a shipment to San Francisco. What neither one of them knows is that stolen silver bars are hidden in the shipment, and people involved in the robbery are after them.
  21. Barbary House: Caine learns Danny has an estranged son named Zeke. Danny's ruthless business partner Vincent Corbino who wants revenge on him turns Caine into a prizefighter.
  22. Flight to Orion: Caine, Zeke, and Zeke's mother head for the city of Orion to search for Danny with Corbino and others on their tail. They run into an Indian who challenges Caine to a duel.
  23. The Brothers Caine: Orion is crawling with bounty hunters hired by Corbino. One of them lies to Danny and claims Caine is a bounty hunter sent to kill him, so Danny tries to kill Caine when they finally meet.
  24. Full Circle: Brothers Kwai Chang and Danny Caine stand shoulder to shoulder in a fight for their lives as they try to reunite their family.

Films

  1. Kung Fu: The Movie: The father of the Emperor's nephew destroys the Shaolin order and then attempts to use Caine's illegitimate son that he didn't know he had as an instrument of his vengeance.
  2. Kung Fu: The Next Generation: Set in the modern day, Caine's grandson, also called Kwai Chang Caine, tries to guide his son Johnny away from a life of crime and deal with a drug ring.
