Written by: James Madejski

Directed by: Jorma Taccone

Captured by Jack Sinclair, Wade is given a vision by Chief Pachacamac to help him see the world through Knuckles’ eyes and find his inner strength.

  • A Day in the Limelight: With Knuckles being Out of Focus, the episode focuses on Wade developing his skill and guile as the warrior Knuckles knows Wade can be.
  • Adaptation Deviation: In-Universe, as in the rock opera vision Wade experiences, Knuckles was present with his father when the latter and the rest of his tribe fought Longclaw rather than being left behind. Also, Longclaw was accompanied with a whole army of owls rather than being on her own, and was the one who attacked the echidna's town alongside said owl army rather than being hunted by Knuckles' father and the other Echidnas.
  • Call-Forward: During the rock opera recap of Knuckles' past, when on the losing end of a fight with the Fire Demon, the Fire Demon sings the words "Unskilled, untrained" with the choir adding "So unworthy", something that Knuckles himself would say ("You're unskilled! Untrained! Unworthy!") to Sonic during his first clash with the hedgehog in the second movie.
  • Cross-Cast Role: In-universe. Longclaw, who was female in previous films, is portrayed by Jack Sinclair.
  • Duel to the Death: Parodied. Wade and Jack duel with swords in a manner similar to a medieval joust with motorcycles, but the duel is made silly due to Wade wearing a bathrobe, riding on a bicycle obviously too small for him, and “winning” by cutting off Jack’s ponytail.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Prior to his proper introduction in the next episode, Pistol Pete portrays Knuckles’ father in the play.
  • Harmless Electrocution: Wade gets electrocuted several times in this episode. The first time is when Jack uses a stun gun on him after the motorcycle ride. Then Wade proceeds to get shocked multiple times when he touches the bars of his cell. Additionally, Jack increases the juice just for fun.
  • Metaphorgotten: Jack describes his relationship with Wade as the Frog and the Scorpion with Jack being the scorpion. Then he adds that he is a scorpion that can swim along with having beautiful hair and a way with the ladies.
  • Musical Episode: The bulk of the episode is a rock opera set in Wade’s vision quest.
  • Non-Singing Voice: In-universe - Wade’s singing voice is acknowledged as being provided by Michael Bolton.
  • Out of Focus: Knuckles barely appears in this episode. He only appears with a brief conversation with Wanda and riding a motorcycle with Wade on their way to Reno.
  • Reactive Continuous Scream: Wade and Pachacamac do this when they meet in Wade’s Vision Quest.
  • Stylistic Suck: Wade’s vision quest is given in the form of a rock opera, acknowledged in-universe as “low-budget” by Pachacamac.
  • Take Off Your Clothes: A tame variation of this occurs. To drive the point that Wade defeated Jack in the jousting-style duel, Wade orders Jack to give him Jack's jacket, vest, and the bowling team member shirt. The humiliation compels Jack to run away in his undershirt and jeans.
  • Vision Quest: After being knocked out via the electric cage Jack trapped him in, Wade undergoes one of these while unconscious, guided by Pachacamac in a retelling of Knuckles' past to help him to find his true strength... Through a musical stage play depicting said past with Wade as Knuckles and Jack as Longclaw.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: A very unique variation, as a majority of the episode consists of Wade learning about Knuckles' past through a rock opera Vision Quest from Knuckles' own point of view.
